Professor Layton And The Diabolical Box

The second game in the Professor Layton Series and it is, believe it or not, different than the first game in somewhat small ways. But make a big difference. Has this game put our professor up a notch on the awesome hat scale. Or is he puzzled by our new "hip" standards?

     Story
When the professor gets a note from his mentor that he has a lead on the mysterious "Diabolical Box" the professor and Luke immediatly drive over to his quarters. After solving a clever puzzle laid out by the sensei(we'll give him that name because he taught the professor we have come to respect everything he knows)they get to his room only to find him dead on the floor *ghasp* The only lead that the professor and Luke have is a train ticket for the Molentary express. A train that is a grand mystery itslef.

    Concept
You, Professor Layton and your acompliace, Luke, are grand puzzle and mystery solvers. You see a bottle this reminds you of a puzzle! There are a total of 150 puzzles for you to solve throughout your adventure. Last time puzzles seemed to be a total random process and had nothing to lend to the story but this time around things are different the puzzles acctualy make logical sence. Every week there is a new free ownlodable puzzle via wifi. This game is set up very much like a hollywood blockbuster. At the end of each game there is a bonus called "The Hidden Door". It says and I quote "Enter the password which you can find in the sequel to this game". Much like the cliff hanger end of a movie

    Graphics
From the opening cutscene to the first time you get to tap the screen for hidden puzzels the Professor and the world around him pop right off the screen. The diversity in the different towns that you see throughout the game is just so amazing you have to ask yourself "Is this a DS game?"

    Final Thought
Most of the time when you see a sequel to something like a movie or in this case a game it feels more grown up than the first time and that is right front and center with Professor Layton And The Diabolical Box. The game feels that it is "grown up" and it shows that by having a much more darker story and pulls at your heart strings a little at the end of the game.Do not buy this game if you get easily frusturated at games that dont come easily to you. If you buy this game make shure you are devoted to finishing it. I eagerly anticipate the third in the series as it will undoubtly be the best we have seen so far. But until then we all tip our hats in salute to another job well done Professor!

Professor Layton and his peppy sidekick Luke are back in their 2nd grand adventure for the Nintendo DS.  This time they’re hot on the trail of the Elysian Box, an ornamental artifact said to (gulp) kill anyone who dares open it.  The Professor gets a letter from an old colleague about the box and, sensing something is amiss, he and Luke soon discover the old man’s body – with the Elysian Box nowhere to be found.  The letter included a mysterious ticket (destination unknown) aboard the Mol...

A true gentleman leaves no puzzle unsolved 0

It's no secret that Professor Layton and the Curious Village was one of my favorite games released last year, so it's only natural that I was excited to see what the good professor would bring to the table this time around. Fortunately, Layton's second outing is just as seamlessly charming as his first, making Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box a solid choice for fans of the original. Everything that made The Curious Village so fun is present and accounted for in The Diabolical Box. The sam...
