Btw. the Giantbomb-channel is pretty much dead in the game. But if there are some duders who want to team up, I'd love to play with some chill people, maybe even tackle team league :)
How's the community now? The last time I played it (shortly after launch) I had jerks yelling at me in the chat while I was trying to learn the game. I wouldn't mind if they were helpful and told me how to improve, but they were just yelling that I was playing wrong. I know the basics (don't feed, play your character's role, etc.) but the community really turned me off trying to learn more.
For Reference: I play about 4 to 5 matches almost each day. The community can be bad, but of all the MOBA-Style games it's probably the least toxic. The good thing is you can just disable chat, the worst you'll get that way is "agressive" pings.
Regarding the update: No matter how your feelings are about loot boxes, it seems like a better way to do it than the game has right now. After you reach the max account level there is almost no progression besides leveling up individual characters. This way at least you have some cosmetic stuff you get every now and then.
It could still end up doing well enough financially to justify another game, and if the Mass Effect subreddit is any indication the game has still resonated with enough of the core fanbase that there will be some interest in a follow up (seriously, it's surreal hopping between these boards and that subreddit, the perception of the game in these two places is in stark contrast).
I'm enjoying it.
We're in the minority on these boards.
Not just these ones...
Anyway now it's time to give Mass Effect to a better studio like Obsidian!
Because if you want awesome storytelling and bug-free games ... Obsidian is the place to go!
I recently replayed all 3 ME games. The last 15 minutes of ME3 still are not great, but the overall game is good. There are some great heartfelt scenes in the game that really got to me.
I'm at Episode 8 right now and I like it. It has a different vibe than the other shows they did which is was I wanted. Then again ... I am neither a Martial Arts expert nor am I particulary interested in stuff like "cultural appropriation" (I am sorry, but for the most part that stuff seems like people being outraged just to be outraged to me) ... so I might have a simpler view on this stuff. It's entertaining to me and I want to see how it ends.
I understand why a lot of people don't seem to like the game, but to be honest ... I have a lot of fun with it. I am very early in the game but playing with one buddy and trying to stealth the missions is oddly satisfying. That may change if I play more of it, but for now I am enjoying my time with the game.
Yeah, well "WE" determined that your company has made some seriously questionable choices lately, and your work has significantly fallen in quality since Mass Effect 2. "WE" also determined that "WE" would like to test part of your game before committing to an actual purchase. Being that we no longer seem to have that option, "WE" determined that keeping our pre-orders would not be necessary.
That is probably the most entitled post I've ever read on the internet. Good on you for breaking records and stuff.
Ugh..
Side note: When you release one of the greatest video games of all time, namely ME2, it's understandable that you don't reach the same heights with subsequent attempts. Still, I have yet to play a bad Bioware game. Or even one that I didn't like. That's more than I can say for most developers.
I'm with you ... I had fun with every Bioware game even if there were parts in each one I didn't like too much.
