But how are journalists (i.e. the GB crew) supposed to surface the quality games if they too are inundated by an endless, unorganized stream of garbage? Jeff, Brad, Drew, and Jason have all complained at separate points about having to spend hours sifting through the New Release list to find things that are QL-worthy.

If the sum total of the marketing effort of a developer is dumping their game onto Steam and hoping journalists notice, I would say that developer is not going to be successful. Even if Valve paid a human to play through everything that hits the Steam store and reject the cynical asset flips and unplayable garbage, that would still be the case. There are just too many devs making too many games right now. It's an industry problem, not a Steam problem.

You can't completely absolve Steam from the issue, when they are the ones that dominate the market they sit in. They very much hold the keys to the kingdom.
While they may not be able to completely solve the problem on their own, they definitely have the influence to effect change.

Everything about this game and its release seems to scream Alpha Protocol. I'm cautiously excited.

That's high praise, I might have to give this game a shot.

Man, reading this thread and what some people I (used) to follow on twitter were saying is such a bummer. I get TB was really polarizing, but Jesus Christ there's a time and place.
There are people I greatly dislike, but I would still have the decency to keep my opinions to myself when the deceased wasn't even put to rest yet. This moment is not about you.
I hope his family gets to mourn in peace and don't get exposed to any of this.

I haven't really been keeping up with TB for the last year or so, but I used to love watching The Co-Optional Podcast. R.I.P.

I like how Marvel Studios original goal was to have interconnected movies that could also be 100% enjoyed on their own so as to not fall into the same atrocious pitfalls as comics themselves and yet people will still defend the idea that you should have to watch 18 movies to appreciate one. The movie should stand on it's own (for the record I've seen them all, I just find the universe is becoming absurd and I don't think defending it is a good thing).

Ideas evolve/change over time. They might have had different intentions at the start of this journey, but they couldn't have predicted the amount of success they would gain.
Honestly they've done something that hasn't been done before and created a movie for which there is no comparison. Does Infinity War stand on it's own in a vacuum? No.
However in the context of what they've build, it is without a doubt a great achievement. The notion that all movies must stand on their own regardless of context seems like a weird restriction to put on any form of art.

@deathstriker: According to Feige Captain Marvel will be the most powerful hero introduced to the MCU. We'll have to see how that plays out in her movie.

Really liked the movie, although the pacing at the start is a little rough. They did an unexpectedly good job with Thanos. Wish they kept Star-Lord around though, given what happened with Gamora.
My only nitpicky thing is I'm not feeling the nano-suits. I preferred the old "low-tech" Black Panther, Iron Man and Spider-Man suits. Also give Cap his proper shield back.

I was kinda meh on Baldur and still confused as to why Freya could fight, even-though it's mentioned she can't due to the curse.

I assumed that is why she was controlling the dead giant, so that she wouldn't be directly fighting herself, though that is a pretty sucky curse if you are able to sidestep it like that!

I though about that too. but I really hope that's not the reason. Would be a big oversight for Odin (who is established as really paranoid) to put a curse on Freya that only triggers when she physically throws a punch, rather than the myriad ways she can fight with spells (which he's well aware off).

Odin straight up might not be powerful enough to cast a spell that wide-reaching.

I considered that too, but at that point why even place the curse in the first place? Why not just call it quits after the curse that ties her to Midgard? It seems as futile as placing a restriction preventing a swordsman with no aptitude in magic from using spells. Seemed like a needless plot point to have Mimir be so explicit about how she can't even defend herself, if you're gonna disregard it in such a big way and not address it afterwards.

@deathstriker: I guess I didn't think it was incomplete, because from the start it's made very clear this a story about the relationship between Kratos and Atreus. Although admittedly that story didn't grab me. And I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed they made so little use of that pantheon. I was kinda meh on Baldur and still confused as to why Freya could fight, even-though it's mentioned she can't due to the curse. But the ending got me hyped for the sequel.

Whats the deal with the Freya boss battle? I thought she was not allowed to fight or defend herself?
