Alex nailed it at 47:00 what I'd been thinking all along the crypto currency discussion "all money is made up regardless" That's what answers the question about not understanding how bitcoins become money.

As far as AC: Origins, they don't go into the origins of the wrist blades (as it existed beforehand) but the origin of the creed definitely is explained.

That's good to hear. I've got my hopes up now for when I eventually get to it!

Yeah I don't get much time to listen to podcasts, so I haven't reached the next episodes yet. Now I'm not entirely sure I should either, which sucks because I try not to miss major GB content, but I also can't stand political stances being used as reasons to say a game is not good, mainly when they don't even apply. It's unfortunate cause I really love these guys! 25 hours is a also big investment though. Decisions...

I also enjoyed the combat in Horizon. The weight and reactions of the machines was great to dance around, and you really got in the flow of the combat in the game. I felt the world was the game's weakest part (not visually) as all it consisted of was herds of machines to fight on the way to the next quest. Nothing to explore, discover etc. I always ran straight to the next mission, ignoring all the machines around. Maybe this is also why I enjoyed the combat when I did engage, instead of burning out on it.

@sammo21: Hmm, interesting. I do plan to play it eventually (As of now I've got a huge backlog of other games from 2017) as I've played every AC game yet, so maybe I'll end up enjoying it as I'm going in with low expectations anyway. I was hoping they did stuff like explain the origin behind stuff like the hidden blade, the hood, and the origins of the beliefs and ideologies of the Assassin's order, since it is supposedly about the birth of the creed. I don't think that's there though right?

Also some of the HZD criticism was weird. Robot designs are bad? I don't know what to say about that, the designs are well researched and follow an "animalistic" design system. Danny's noclip documentary shows how a lot of that process came to be. Abby at 3:08:10 "It looks good, I don't think it brings a whole lot that's new aside from technically looking good. It's not like a world that's like Wow I wanna explore this cause I've never seen this in a video game before." had me facepalming.

About Dream daddy, I think it'd be safer to not say anything! :P

so why no talk about how good assassins creed origins looks? Also, Horizon Zero Dawn is gonna be 2017’s witcher 3 it looks like...so much weird shade sent its way when I thought it was on lock.

I literally got platinum in AC: Origins last night. “Not feeling like an AC game” to me means its not tons of wasted time and boring follow missions. This is the best one since Brotherhood.

Boy that “cultural appropriation” part at the end is cringe worthy. 6 people scolding a game dev on having “kinda native American stuff” in it is 2017 personified lol. No talk about the other cultures in it as well or how the game actually represents a larger land mass than the map leads you to believe.

But hey, let’s endlessly praise Dream Daddies. :/

I totally get what Vinny means about AC origins not feeling like an AC game - it's the same reason I haven't bought it yet. AC games used to scratch a very specific itch for me, especially with the melodramatic plots, music and its self seriousness and lore. I'll miss that!

Me too. They were beautiful, I think. Just like Zune, which disappeared too...

Didn't play 10 games from this year but this is my top 6 right now:

1. LiS: Before the Storm

2. Yakuza 0

3. Elex

4. Persona 5

5. Horizon Zero Dawn

6. Finding Paradise

I'm expecting the staff's top 3 to be - 1. Zelda, 2. Mario, 3. Nier or Yakuza or PUBG?
