"I've fallen in love with an LG TV that supports 4K and HDR, and it runs for around $2500. Assuming CES 2017 drags 4K technology slightly closer to the mainstream in January, 4K TVs could start to approach something resembling affordability, at least for the types of people who occasionally drop that kind of money on a TV."

Whoa that must be a huge TV or an OLED. If you want a reasonably priced 4K, HDR TV you can get an LCD/LED. A 55" can go for as little as $500.

Lastly, Mario Kart 8's framerate was absolutely solid with just 2 people racing. It didn't get worse until you played with 3 or more people.

It kind of bothers me how often Alex trashes Mario Kart 8's local multiplayer. It's really solid with 2 people playing and drops to 30 fps with 3-4 players. I think this is entirely reasonable with a game that's as nice looking as MK8 and it's especially great compared to all those other AAA games with local multiplayer up to 4 players (hint: they barely exist anymore).

The multi-part stuff doesn't bother me so much. Remaking a game like FF7 would be super expensive, so I think they're being pretty reasonable. I guess we'll know for sure when more details eventually come out.

I'm more bothered by the new gameplay. I never expected it to stay exactly the same, but it changed more than I'd like. Hopefully it's just that I'm not seeing the whole picture, but it bothers me that all three of Square's big RPGs this gen are action RPGs where you control one character. I do like that you can switch characters though. I hope you can do that on the fly.

Of course all three games will have their differences, but they just look really similar at the moment. I know a lot of people say the turn-based days are dead, but I still play and enjoy them. When did everyone decide a Final Fantasy game could no longer sell with turn-based gameplay? Is there some example I'm missing?

Why the hell would they make the game way less colorful on the Wii U version? Try jumping between the two versions. It's pretty bad. It might be a sharper HD picture (but really not that sharp...), but the Wii U version is way too muted compared to the Wii game. So not only does the game play worse, it looks worse. This is the type of game that should be bright and colorful.
