Waluigi is the Mario character I like at this point.

@tothenines: I tend to prefer it as well but the first game wasn't like that at all so it would be a change. I love making a whole party though too, when a good gameplay system is at the core like these games have, so I'm mixed. With the last game I didn't give a shit about the story because I found it terrible so that's my thinking right now anyways. Unless there's a change, it'll probably not be a party/companion focused game at all. It also has a focus on co-op so that's another knock (although, Baldur's Gate come from the same place actually interestingly enough, it was supposed to be all co-op originally and the party was an afterthought to appease solo players).

Personally I also think party focused RPGs have been incredibly stagnant. Bioware just focuses on you being able to fuck everyone in weird shallow wooden relationships and calls it a day for the last several games now.

The waypoint article is sooooo bad. They just can't believe that the design was made without any ill will and DEMANDED that Bungie removed the item.

That's how I feel about this whole thing for sure. I'm not sure people get how designing sci-fi bullshit is. You just throw letters together. I'm not being totally naive that it's possible, but I think jumping to say oh it's definitely a flag or symbol who I, who is pretty informed I think, had never seen before is a stretch and kinda gross to me.

Waypoint can be good at times but their methods and stuff sometimes... really off putting and not as dead on as they certainly act like they are. They do no journalism in this case but are telling you exactly how it is in the post for example. I really like Rob Zacny but his tweets about this were bad basically saying he knows 1000% it is intentional because he knows other times hate symbols are used intentionally. Then, when there's doubt, you say "Oh well it was something else/means something else" and that's a racist defense for this stuff... You're putting it at there is absolutely 0 room for a mistake or coincidence. Okay dude that's iron clad.

Taking it down ASAP was the right move and good on Bungie.

Interested to see how much party members are fleshed out like some other RPGS, because right now I want to (with a workaround that still works I think where you literally launch the game 4 times and join a local multiplayer match) make a whole party because I'm crazy like that. I love the control and sitting down for hours to make a party. I know I'm sick. But if the story for party members is well integrated and they are fleshed out, I may bail out of that plan.

They've put out little videos introducing each character with dialogue but I'm not sure how much it goes beyond that.

@tennmuerti: One of the reasons I've only ever experimented with Legendary is I don't think the difficulty options are granular enough. I'd love to play with the unshackled AI, but I don't want the build/research/wounded times that come along with it.

I've always thought they should take an approach similar to the Silent Hunter series: the different aspects of what makes up the difficulty are all separate and accessible individually. The choice you make for each aspect determines the overall difficulty you play at.

Totally agreed.

With sims, I wish they got NBA 2K levels. That game lets you adjust practically every single thing with a slider. It'd be cool to see that in XCOM.

Absolutely, and it annoys me every time because I gotta manually scrub to the end so that it is a 'completed' episode on my list.

Yes. I feel bad for them that they tried to get rid of it and it became worse than ever.

@artisanbreads: this would only get better if Dave Lang makes a guest appearance as commander in replace of Dan switching bodies and mind for his next turn after Alex.

lol this would be amazing.

The Stewie and Brian characters in Family Guy and the teddy bear in Ted are all virtually identical in that the lame gag is that "a dog/baby/stuffed animal shouldn't talk or be witty, so it's hilarious that they do and are!" I found them to basically serve as "MacFarlane avatars" in that they're brilliantly acerbic among a sea of dullards, which seems to be exactly how he views himself and the world from a psychological standpoint.

Yup.

Looking at Family Guy now I totally feel that way with Brian and it's kind of pathetic lol. I just imagine how old Seth really feels put into that dog.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but in all sincerity why are people so obsessed with this thing? What is it that makes it so desirable?

Sure it seems neat, but if you want to play those games....

I'm with you man. Nintendo tho.
