I wonder how many of the removed OnLive coupons were "discarded" as instructed, and how many were just pocketed by employees for personal use or resale.

Based off what Ive heard of typical GS employee conduct, I would guess that very few made it into the trash.

Can someone who bought the PC version NOT from Gamestop confirm if there was anything on the plastic about there being an Onlive voucher included?

@Jimbo: Youre only half right. The game is NOT property of Gamestop. If SE and Eidos were to tell GS to pull all copies of the game off the shelf, GS would have no choice but to comply.

How's it work then? I always assumed stores were buying games at wholesale price and then selling them on again with a markup.

Technically yes HOWEVER its not the same as if you or I bought the game.  They are still expected to follow certain guidelines set forth by the publishing company.  First and foremost is to sell the game as they receive it.  Now this is a violation that GS has been allowed to get away with because up until now for the most part the items have in fact been sold they way they received them.  Otherwise they would have the power to remove all the extras and resell them at a higher value (which trust me, if they had the power to do that, they would).

What is hurting GS here is they failed to notify the publishing company that they are altering the package and also failed to notify the consumer that the item they are purchasing as been altered from its original state.

Im not going to question whether or not this is legal.  However, I cant help but wonder if this violates the code of ethics that businesses are expected to follow.

Regardless, this is a very short sighted move by Gamestop.  They are launching their own version of Onlive, however wont they need the publishing companies to sign off on their games being used by Gamestop's service?  Didnt GS just essentially just shoot themselves in the foot here?

In the meantime, I think the appropriate response on the part of both Eidos and SE would be to deny GS advanced copies of future release titles such as Final Fantasy 14-2 and Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

" Mass Effect. It took me 6-7 hours alone to beat Matriarch Benezia, because I hadn't really specs too well, and I went to that mission first. I hated the game. I got past her eventually, and It became my favorite game ever. "
Yeah she can be real tough if you dont know how to fight her.

Like many others I too tried to like Fallout 3, as well as Oblivion and Dragonage.  For Fallout and Oblivion, for me its just that I dont really like Bethesda as a gaming developer.  For Dragonage, I dont think it should be been ported to consoles.  However I have put some serious game time on all three games in an attempt to force myself to like it, and it just never worked.

However a game that did eventually grow on me though was Metroid Prime 2.  I bought it when it first came out and I didnt really like it.  I thought it was too big, alot of the enemies were too tough given their positioning in the game and I despised having limited ammo on your beam weapons.  However before I could give the game a second chance, my Gamecube and games were stolen.  So I didnt get a chance to give it another try until last year when Metroid Prime Trilogy came out.  I forced myself to stick with it as I started a new game, and it did start to grow on me.

For the record, I NEVER stated that I hated other FPS's compared to Halo.  I was able to pick up Halo 3 brand new for 13 bucks and ODST came with the Elite system I bought a couple months back to replace my first system.  I posted a few FPS games I enjoy playing but those didnt count because they werent "real FPS" games.  Which is funny considering Hitman doesnt consider Halo a "real FPS".  Like I said previously, I buy games based off what interests me and what my budget can afford.  Since I buy games of all genre's, certain games tend to get put on the back burner until they come down in price.

" Ok so my next game is only considered bad if you dont ask a fanboy.  But I really liked Final Fantasy X.  Its one of those games that may have done well in the reviews but great many of gamers despise the game for one reason or another.  So depending on who you ask, FFX is a good game or its a bad one. "

I love FFVIII. Now that right there is an infinitely more controversial statement among the FF community of nutters.
"
Oh tell me about it, anytime someone says "I didnt like FFVII" the kneejerk reaction is "Stop trolling".
