To be fair, before this news, you would have been able to log onto Amazon and buy one for months now no problem, so I'm largely in the "if you really wanted one, you would have one by now." However, some people are just super late adopters for any number of reasons, so it kinda sucks for people are really gonna want one in a year but they'll only be available second-hand and will most definitely be more expensive.

Though...I guess you could say that about a lot of shit. Still sucks though.

Glad to see Blizzard continuing to fuck up as the year comes to a close. Shifting resources away from HotS is whatever. I don't think anyone is surprised there. It's the way Blizzard just sorta dropped their esports scene out of nowhere, seemingly screwing everyone involved over in the process. It's not like they walked into the office one morning and made this decision on the spot. This was the result of months of deliberation and they strung everyone along right up until the end. It's fucked.

I was about 50-60 hours, some crazy number like that, into Persona 5 when my PS4's HDD decided to fail. Didn't have PS Plus and, for some idiotic reason, never paid attention to the free online save slot they give you in that game. In any case, I tried to replay it and I think that largely contributed to the reason why I'm not a fan of the cast/story this time around. 3 and 4 didn't exactly have world class writing either, but 5's is like...not good. Two of the best characters in that game get nothing to do: Ryuji and Haru. One feels completely disconnected from their confidant story and is the butt of joke in the main storyline. The other is introduced far too late and and practically gets sidelined.

But I digress. It's still kinda sorta relevant to my point though. On my first playthrough, not a lot really bothered me. On my second, I feel like I started to notice all the shortcomings and it ruined the magic.

I've listened to a few albums released this year, but the only one I've really been fuckin with was Jazzy Jeff's M3

I think FFXIV just isn't for me and isn't trying to be anymore and that's okay. It is what it is. The most exciting thing to me was that we get to rebuild Ishgard, but I've never been big into crafting or gathering so I don't see myself participating in that.

I was praying for something, anything to get announced that would make me want to keep playing. I would've been okay with a cool race, but instead we get Viera. Like...okay...say what you will about WoW, lord knows they deserve the shit they get, but goddamn you gotta give Blizzard credit for their races. They coulda saw how overwhelmingly popular Night Elves, Blood Elves, and Dranei were and just made every future race similar to those, but no, they added shit like Goblins and Pandaren knowing full goddamn well that they were going to be niche races.

The crazy thing I love Viera. I've said it half a billion times, but XII and Tactics Advance are two of my favorite FF games. It's just that fucking everything in XIV is stupid attractive except for Roegadyn. Yeah, I know they're the least played race. Yes, I know people prefer attractive races. But it's just...what the addition of Viera represent that bothers me so much: they're still playing it safe after all these years. So far, Shadowbringers is once again looking like more of the same with a few bells and whistles on the periphery that will at best serve as an occasional distraction, but don't shake up the game in any meaningful way.

I don;'t want to be a downer, but hey, that's just what I felt :/

Bet it has something to do with their XO event thing happening this weekend. Probably just "a free gift as a thank you to all the fans" and blah blah blah or something like that to remind people that Crackdown was fun and maybe possibly there's a chance Crackdown 3 will be fine? Just my guess anyway.

Very, very, very few games make me mad. I can't think of any game that makes me more mad than FFXV. The setup for this game is brilliant, but at every goddamn turn, they somehow find a way to squander each and every opportunity presented by the story. It fucking sucks.

Hell, an hour or two into the game they already ruin that brilliant setup by having your kingdom come under seige at the beginning of your super happy funtime buddy roadtrip. The game just brushes that aside too because "there's nothing you can do about it right now, Noctis!" so you just gotta bro out with your bros. Why the flying fuck does it happen so soon? How are you supposed to realistically have fun with that shit hanging over your head? And as if that wasn't stupid enough, you find shortly after that your fiance is believed to be in danger...yet there's no real urgency to get to her either because you gotta fuckin bro out some more.

Speaking of which, at a certain point it becomes very clear the writer thinks Lunafreya is more important than she is. She's legit in the story for maybe 10 minutes up to that point. Noctis hardly even talks about her. Then the thing happens - she dies if you didn't already know - and I'm sitting there like "why should I give a shit?" The game had done next to nothing to flesh out her relationship with Noctis or even just her as a character and suddenly, out of nowhere, it's asking the player to care way more than anyone ever should.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Again, at every possible turn, they somehow find a way to drop the ball in regards to the story and it's baffling that a corporation would shit this game out, a mainline game in their flagship franchise, in such a state.

Say what you will about any mainline Final Fantasy to come before, but at least those all generally shipped with "complete" stories. I think the story in XIII sucks too, but I genuinely still consider it to be exponentially better than whatever the fuck they did with XV.
