 I think it's cause of the reigon everyone's in. In some countries, the internet speeds are high enough to warrant a streaming service (Such as Hulu or most other US only video provider).
 
Though in many countries the internet can be pure garbage, although people are still able to watch videos on predownloaded sites such as Youtube.
 
I dont like the streaming either. As someone who is not privvy to fast internet it makes watching videos (my favorite part of the site) almost impossible.
