I'm really bummed about the Halo. The windscreen looks half decent and the "it's not been tested enough!" argument seems bunk since the halo is being redesigned and oh yeah numerous other race series use some sort of windscreen. Just seems to me someone (Bernie) picked the Halo at the outset for some reason (hoping it's so ugly fans turn against it and it gets dropped) and there was nothing to be done about it.
Poor JV, hope he, Matt, and the other 298 folks suddenly without a job can get themselves a paycheck quickly. Sucks how easily it can all just go away.
This looks a lot sleeker than the Ferrari 'Halo' design, IMHO. With the added benefit of not blocking the drivers forward vision, and protecting the driver from flying debris (like the bolt that hit Massa in 2009).
And as the old aviation adage goes, "Looks right, flies right."
Yes but don't forget the equally old adage: "If one solution clearly makes more sense than other, Bernie will choose the dumber one."
Yay, it's back and it's gone Free! I haven't watched any F1 seriously since the Mid-2000s but I really enjoy this 'cast. And now that Haas has brought a (nominally) 'murrican team to the grid I may have to start watching as well.
