I recently played through Ninja Gaiden II after the collection was announced. I hadn’t touched it in over a decade, but I decided to give it a look on Series X through BC. It took a a while, but I got past the point where I got stuck years ago, and then it just clicked. I think I like it even more than Black.

After that, I picked up Doom Eternal after abandoning it in the early throes of the pandemic. Again not clicked this time for me. Zipping around the environments is incredibly fun, and I actually like the first-person platforming.

I plan to check out some more games I left unfinished since the release schedule is so barren for the next few months.

The Series X controller uses USB C, so they both have the same connection. I think Xbox controller feels great to hold, and has what’s probably my favorite d-pad since the SNES.

Dying Light 3 has been my most anticipated game for like three years running. I hope we get a date during the Wednesday event.

Other than that, I’m really looking forward to Returnal and Halo Infinite. I like shooting sparkly things in space.

I have a 1440p monitor for my PC and an LG OLED CX for the consoles. Since I got the consoles and the OLED, I’ve been playing there a lot more than on the monitor.

@heelbill: How's the Arc? Talk about going all-in . . . Sonos systems deserve their own thread entirely.

@reap3r160: I tried to get a 3080 for a couple months or so after launch and gave up. I’ve managed to buy three PS5s, which I kept one for myself and sold two at cost to friends. The graphics cards, though.... they’ve eluded me. I might try that and see if I have any luck.

Anyone else considering going all-in this generation? Since we’ve been on lockdown, the amount of time I’ve spent gaming has gone up considerably, and not being able to go anywhere or do anything else has padded my disposable income. I was lucky enough to get a PS5 and Xbox SX at launch. Now I’m thinking about upgrading to a new PC with a 3080. That would complete the next-gen trifecta.

What do you all think? I don’t see the fervor for graphics cards dying down anytime soon... so Maybe it’s just FOMO. Curious.

I’m pretty ritualistic with how I consume their new content. I start the Bombcast on Tuesday evening and spread it over three days. I listen to the Beastcast over Friday and Saturday. I watch the video version of the Hotspot on Sunday mornings.

Everything else I just kinda randomly turn on when I’m playing a game. Infinite was great for that before the purple pop-up screen ruined it. Since then, I’ve been going through old series. I finished Blue Bombin’ and moved onto Vinnyvania.

I haven’t put in enough time with the launch games, namely Demon’s Souls and Yakuza. Ori is the first thing that comes to mind whenever anyone mentions GOTY. That game made a huge impression on me. The Series X enhanced version is so gorgeous that I know I’ll end up playing through it again.

The 3D Mario Collection that was reported to be a thing and is now up in the air is the dream for me.

Mario 64 still *feels* so good to play. Though there’s a charm to it’s early low-poly look, I would love to see it get a facelift. Oh, and with right stick camera controls.
