Since Far Cry 3 launched so late in the year how do end of year releases work for awards? You can tell VGA's pick out a winner weeks if not months ahead of time in order to get all that CGI done in time. Not saying that Far Cry 3 is GOTY but Vaas would of been in the character running I would think if not for the late release. So is FC3 eligible for 2013 awards?
@believer258: it's not ludicrous to suggest that if 48 had always been the standard, this wouldn't be an issue. it IS ludicrous to base an entire argument around such an assumption.
i think 24 is a sweet spot for FILM because it strikes a balance between providing fluid continuity between frames and sufficient leftover space in order to let our minds do some of the work. films ARE an interactive medium because we are piecing these pictures together as they are shown to us. without our input, they're nothing. more frames actually equates to less creativity on our behalf in piecing together the visual narrative.
At the risk of sounding dismissive, is this argument based on verifiable information, or is just something you (or someone else) made up to "explain" why 24 fps is better?
Edit: As an example, someone else mentioned "persistence of vision" which according to Wikipedia is a myth debunked a century ago.
My brain does not want to work I just want to watch the movie.
Honestly my biggest gripe with the Wii U is their excess crap with their external memory situation. In order to use an external hard drive for instance you have to make sure the device has its own power source separate from the console, or make sure it comes with a specific hub that allows you to plug into both usb ports in the back to work properly. This is a problem because most external hard drives I've seen in stores don't carry that specific hub, and instead have a single cable connecting between the device and one usb port. Without that hub the external hard drive can't get enough power and will not work properly.
My hard drive came with a cable with two ports for the extra 3-5V needed. This is the limitation of the drive not the Wii U. I need to either use a powered USB hub or plug in both USB plugs from the hard drive in my PC to use it. Can't blame my PC manufacture on that one can I?
