I just bought this on sale recently (and have grabbed the other few Housemarque games I was missing on PS4), and I gotta say, if I had played it in 2017 I'd have said it was my favorite game of the year. I can't understand why the GB duders bounced off of this. If they had talked it up, I would have bought it at release.
While I hadn’t played it too much the latter half of this year, it was definitely my favorite game of 2016. Everything that everyone seemed to hate about it is why I loved it so much. It just felt so great to just chill and let this game wash over me.
I haven't bought MK8 Deluxe yet, but I'd love to add more friends, and I do plan on buying it soon. Adding all of you now, here's mine (I'm madmatt213)
Any potential membership sale happening this month (I understand if you are unable to hint at it, figured I'd give it a shot and ask)? I decided to stop waiting for a sale and re-sub the same day you took the Vinny shirt pre-order down, so now I'm waiting and being super sad I can't watch UPF anymore. With that said, do you plan to have the 2016 Vinny members shirt still be $15 when it comes back to the store? I don't like wearing logos on my shirts (much like Vinny I guess), but I'll do whatever it takes to get my membership back.
Talk to one of the shopkeepers. They'll clue you into the black market shop (d-pad Up to call them). When you open that menu, go to the licences category. There you'll find a 300Freeman$ licence to open 1 inventory slot. I think it let me buy that 3 times before it said out of stock. It is muuuuch nicer having double the inventory slots.
You can also unlock additional inventory slots by leveling up in Strength, but that only unlocks a slot when you hit Strength 10, 20, etc.
I wish more people were enthused about the game. I am genuinely in love with it, play it more than anything else right now (and I was super hyped for the new Pac-Man CE, too).
I have it on PS4 and am loving it. This is technically my first Trackmania, though I think I've booted up one of the free ones in Steam before, and I've always been fascinated by the series when watching youtube videos or Jeff playing it on UPF.
The PS4 community seems to be OK right now. Hopefully more people will be picking it up on the console. I'm also starting to see more user-created tracks being hosted on the online servers, so that's reassuring.
EDIT: I just checked the online rooms for PS4 and there are a ton more rooms filled with players right now (compared to last night), and the flags by the host players look like mostly European countries. I read on Eurogamer that European digital pre-orders were locked yesterday, so maybe that's why I'm seeing hundreds more people playing today. Oh right, and I think EU has a bank holiday today, so maybe many are home from work/school. Anyways, I just wanted to share this because now I'm more hopeful about the longevity of the PS4 community than I was last night.
