@janman: @nebula427: It doesn't actually have that dark a tone, for the most part it's super happy and cute, Like Bandora has multiple parts where her and her minions just go sing a song, it just has a few weirdly dark moments, that's how most sentai are.
The other big dark moment is that Bandora's whole reason she turned evil is that her son was killed by a Dinosaur and in her sadness she turned to "Dai Satan" for power wanting to just destroy everything in sorrow and anger, after she eventually brings her son back to life but he dies in the final battle, him dying again makes her cry and satan's power leaves her, Daizyujin seals her and her gang away and flings them into space.
But then her post-ending ending is that she's happily being a cute grandma to Lammy and Grifforzer's ( Scorpina and Goldar's ) baby, so it gets cute again.
To explain the stuff about Burai dying for anyone curious:
Burai was Geki's (red's) biological brother, Geki was forcibly taken and raised by the Yamato Tribe king, their biological dad attacked the king in his castle to get his son back and was killed, so Burai swore revenge. They both grew up and became warriors, Geki joined the other Zyurangers to beat Bandora.
When the Zyurangers were put in suspended animation in case Bandora (Rita) came back, Burai went to Gnome and asked to be frozen, problem is the chamber he was in was destroyed by an earthquake and he died.
Daizyujin ( The Megazord ) is a god, knew that they needed his power, so made a deal with the Death God Clotho, granting Burai life again.
After him and the Zyurangers clash a few times he realises it's all meaningless when Geki offers up his life if that's what will satiate him, Burai can't do it, he gives up on his revenge and just gets real up in his own head for a while.
Clotho then summons him to a weird room where he tells him that the deal only granted him a limited time, represented by the candle, any time Burai spends outside Clotho's room will burn the candle, when it's out, he dies.
Over the course of the series he uses up that time to help when they're in trouble, until when there's not much left he has a dream about being dead, he sees a child in this dream, long story short he dies so that kid would live and his last moment is him smiling in the afterlife knowing that the kid won't be joining him for a while.
