@Ubersmake: The guys talked about it when discussing how underwhelming Jurassic Park the game turned out to be. Even though it was broken into episodes like almost every other Telltale adventure game they chose to sell it in one big pack instead of separately. This was done because statistics show that a lot of people will buy the first installment on a downloadable product but it falls off sharply after that. Even the Giant Bomb guys admitted to barely playing any of the later episodes of Sam and Max or Back to the Future even though they really liked the opening installments. The same bundling is being done in DLC with just about every major game now having a "Season Pass." Even Call of Duty sees significant drop off in map pack purchases as they get into the third or fourth pack.

@warxsnake: Unfortunately, no matter how much they spice up the general MMO formula it is still an MMO. It's designed to take a long time to do just about anything and involves a lot of filler. At the end of the day they want you playing for as long as possible so they can make more money. Bioware has put in far more effort than just about anyone since Blizzard in making the formula interesting so I have high hopes that SWTOR succeeds where many many others have failed.

Alright, lets try to get back on SWTOR. I'm perfectly fine with the fact this is an MMO especially since I've been hearing you can reach max level and only be barely halfway through your storyline. That's a lot of story.

@mazik765: When a press only early build of the first mission from ME3 was leaked accidentally to those in the new dashboard beta a bunch of hacker types in Russia mined it for story data. Apparently almost the entire goings on of the game are in that build. Among them they said that just about every major choice you had made so far (sparing the Rachni Queen, reprogramming the Geth, .etc) would be invalidated by random deus ex machina. However, the level was in an incredibly unfinished state (missing textures, voices, and clippings galore). Bioware came out with a statement saying that any story data gained was from a very old build. So, it remains to be seen who is telling the truth.

I too was rather puzzled and dismayed by the lack of some video options. Specifically the view distance. My computer is getting a bit long in the tooth and trying to render things at full distance is a real drain on its processing power. I want to play the game so bad I'm upgrading my computer but I can see people on lower end machines having problems which could easily be fixed with more options.

You're either playing this game to experience the story and Star Wars trapping or you're an MMO player who wants to powerlevel to the top. For those of us in it for the story I have no problems with being overleveled. As some people have said you kill things with ease so it's actually kind of preferred. I'm giddy with the thought that I have eight (16 if you count alignment choice) different stories to play through which will each take me months to complete.

@canucks23: I still hold out hope that perhaps those Russian code miners were yanking our chains or that the data in that ME3 build was in fact ancient. If I don't get an army of Rachni and Geth showing up to back me up I'm going to be pissed.

Why make one KOTOR game and get $60 out of people one time when you can charge people $60 plus $15 a month after that? It's just a financial decision. The prospects for making truck loads of money are better with an MMO. So far I'm happy with the experience as it seems they followed through with making eight different KOTOR games. As long as they keep coming out with more content of the same quality I'll be happy to pay for the foreseeable future.

@CptChiken Team Bondi is dead. Between so many former employees speaking out about bad working conditions, Rockstar pulling its support, and the financial strain of only shipping one (vey good) game in eight years they couldn't continue. They looked for a buyer for awhile but went into administration about a month ago. Patrick put an article up on the site a couple days ago saying some core members are trying to make a game with George Miller now.

@Barrock The core Visceral Games studio in Redwood Shores is still going strong. It was the satelite studio that got shut down.

It's always sad to see people lose their jobs but some of these are heartbreaking. They made good games that didn't sell and paid for it.
