The campaign its self  i thought was much better than halo 3, first you have health packs i have waited so long for a game to use them agian.  Amazeing music when playing as the rookie, firefight is hit and miss i love it but no matchmakeing and   the A.i also in odst is much better not for your team of course they still shoot grunts and not tanks in warthogs. =/  i got my copy of odst for 30 pound i think thats about 46usd not to sure i  hope halo reach has the odst mini open world map "
woah woah woah, you have waited long for games to use an outdated system that is unnecessarily annoying and gets in the way of fun? and i'm supposed to take your opinion on things?

" @Pie:  i think this guy/girl just hates halo his past 8 posts/topics have been telling people not to buy odst "
are you kidding me? i love halo. i was one of the many idiots who shelled out the full what was it like 200 bucks for the helmet edition of halo 3.

but getting past the BS here... the gameplay is excellent, and how can it not be, it's the exact halo 3 gameplay. with healthpacks.

i just really really don't like ODST. the story/campaign is bad, firefight is flawed, and i am mad there is virtially no new gameplay quirks. the ODST marine plays the same as the spartan.

ok... i mean i know you have nothing to say in response. i am sorry i wasted 60 bucks as well but you don't have to be bitter about it.

PLEASE, i urge you. if you already own all the halo 3 map packs, do NOT ODST this full price.

1. the campaign is boring and really badly done compared to halo 3 and really short(4 hours on normal). the story will put you to sleep, and every single encounter is the exact same thing. the vehicle level is exactly the same as that level on the bridge in halo 2.

2. firefight is cool, but there are some quirks that make it unplayable on harder difficulties once you get past the first skull.

3. if you already own all the maps, you're getting 3 new maps. that's it. the midship one is excellent i do have to say.

the only situation i would suggest buying this game full price is if you didn't own ANY of the halo 3 map packs. otherwise it's just firefight mode + 3 new maps.

EDIT: i just want to throw in another observation i made along with probably everyone else who has played the campaign through.

you might as well be playing as master chief. there is no difference in the game mechanics besides the health packs a-la Halo 1.

" Its the best Halo campaign to date. That says a lot. "
i'm going to have to disagree. it was the same thing over and over. find an object that pertains to the joke they call a plot, and then fight groups of brutes, grunts, jackals, and sometimes hunters. not to mention the story was the most boring thing ever, the encounters are all basically exactly the same. there are two vehicle levels, which are basically just reboots of that level with the bridge in halo 2.

now i did enjoy the last level, becuase it was basically the firefight mode, which is pretty fun.

and where is this quote from?

no, considering every other aspect of the game is worth nothing. and also considering you can't play 4 player firefight on one xbox. if you could, i would not be complaining.

" It is basically Halo 3 with a few new weapons, new missions and a new multiplayer mode with 3 new maps.  Are you kidding me? $60 for a $20 expansion pack that last 4 hours? (yes I timed it, it took me 4 hours and 2 mins) for less money than that you could buy Oblivion or Fallout 3 with last like what? 80 hours?  How can bungie get away with releasing an expansion for full price? I will tell you how 'HALO: ODST' the name sells. "

i wouldn't have a problem with the campaign being so short, but factor in the fact that it is the EXACT same thing every single encounter. with a few variations of hunters and hammer brutes.

the whole campaign is just so fucking boring it's not justified.

EDIT: i just wanted to point this out again. the game plays NO differently from regular halo. you might as well be the master chief. you're just as strong, jump as high, throw grenades just as far, the only difference is your health doesn't recharge all the way.

MAJOR letdown. firefight would be cool, if the respawns aren't so freakin bad. if a hammer brute gets into your spawn point then you're screwed.

but the rest of the game is rubbish. the multiplayer isn't worth it if you already own all the halo 3 map packs and the campaign was just the same fucking encounter like 400 times with 2 vehicle levels.
