I think i'm over the whole 4+ hour deliberations podcast/videos now. I still enjoy all the other categories, but I think a simple top 10 the way @calumb90 has calculated it is a better way to go, perhaps with a 2 hour podcast where each team member can explain their choices, and have a bit more of a positive discussion that way.
Saw it yesterday, and although it felt really long when I was watching it, after thinking about it I really liked it.
Other people can comment on the overall themes of the film in a much more succinct way than I can, but it's the moment to moment decisions that impressed me. I was so pleased to find out Rey has no relation to any of the characters from earlier films, if they go back on that in Ep. IX i will be hugely disappointed. It makes the Universe seem so much bigger that way. You dont have to be related to a Skywalker to be important. I really like what they have done with Kylo Ren, he was by far the weakest element of Ep. VII to me, but is now a suitably angry, power hungy villain. Luke's arc was a nice mirroring of hermit Obi Wan Kenobi without being too obvious. It would have been so easy to have him appear in the final stand off with some super duper Jedi power turning him into a superhero, but Luke was always a better pilot than Jedi, The scene at the end with the kids idolising Luke like so many fans do was a nice touch, and a renewed symbol of hope throughout the galaxy. In a way, by being 'struck down' he has become more powerful than you could possibly imagine... The Star Was universe now feels in more danger than it ever has. The resistance has been decimated to 10 or 15 people with a Millennium Falcon.
