I agree. I played it all day yesterday and instead of getting used to the controls it got more and more frustrating. That wind-up on the sprint is a damn nightmare when you want to loot and harvest a bunch of stuff in a tight area.
Well, I haven't been playing a lot of 2014 games. The only thing I could think of that would match a tiny bit is Dark Souls 2. I really thought I would spend more time with it but I burned out early on in my second playthrough. I still like the game though, but, maybe I was a slightly disappointed.
But I guess that's what most reviewers and players are saying, also.
No. I would say games are way inferior to books in telling stories, and somewhat inferior to movies. Sure, you get some kind of personal narrative with games because you are the one controlling it (seemingly). But because the developer has to mold the story around that fact, I think the creative freedom for the writers goes out the window. Some bits are cut because it didn't generate gameplay, it was too expensive to design, it slowed down the pacing, it demanded too many cutscenes or too much inner monolouging which would bore people.
Sure, an author will cut stuff too if it doesn't fit, but then it's all about benefiting the story, and not some other elements like gameplay.
There's some streamers that play a lot of the recent "roguelike-likes". I think those kinds of games they lend themselves pretty well to streaming since they're random, easy to understand but have lot of hidden depths. And it's fun to watch someone who's good at them. Examples are Binding of Isaac, Rogue Galaxy, Risk of Rain, FTL.
It's kind of gross how Steam has brainwashed everyone to think that it's somehow amazing and vital to the PC experience. It's a digital store and nothing else. I don't understand why people are getting all hot and bothered over Uplay and Origin. Why should EA and Ubisoft be giving Valve a cut when they can provide the exact same service.
It's not specifically about Steam, It's about having one convenient, stable and easy place where you buy and manage your game. If that comes from Valve, EA, Ubisoft or is built into the OS itself, whatever. As a consumer, I don't really care who gets a cut from what, I just don't want every single publisher to make they're own store front. Screwing around with different login info, friends lists and program updates isn't convenient.
But sure, we're brainwashed. We should just install every piece of cool software experience every company decides to throw our way, and we should help them to build their brand and earn money by clogging up our computers with trash.
I was unemployed for 2 years (02-04) before I got a full time shit job no one else would do (think cleaning and the food industry, and only fish). Due to a buyout I was sacked. Soon got a job at a candy factory, due to my experience in food manufacturing (04-06). Soon got sacked because of buyout. 2006 I got an warehouse job at my sisters work (yes, thanks to her). I'm now sitting at that place planning logistics (06-??). Nothing to brag about, but I like it, and I don't need to brag.
If you ever get a shit job, pretend you like it, you will need it later
