@chaser324: Just tried that. No luck. Oh well, no biggie. It seems like it has something to do with Chrome, because I tried the page on IE and it allowed me to change theme color. The button simply doesn't work in Chrome for me. Oh well.

Also, the strange thing is I never changed it to white. It was set on dark theme last night when logged out, and it was white when I logged in today. Curious.

1. Tried that first, no change.

2. Tried that second. Still can't change the theme.

I'm on Chrome and Windows 7. Just like the subject line says, I normally have the dark theme, but when I came on the site this afternoon/evening, I'm stuck with the white theme and the dark theme button doesn't work.

I know this is minor, but I figured I'd report it anyways.

For me it's either XCOM or Sleeping Dogs.

1980-81? I think? It was so damn long ago. I'm turning 35 in about a month and a half.

I was ridiculously young. My parents bought my older brother and me a ColecoVision. Played the shit out of it. My parents also eventually got us the ADAM. This was also the period when I did most of my arcade gaming. Mostly when my dad bowled in a work league on Wednesday nights and he would bring me with him. The bowling alley had a really great selection/rotation of arcade games and pinball tables. Our cousins had a 2600, which we would play whenever we would go to their house for holidays and birthdays. One of our friends from the neighborhood had an Intellivsion; another had a C64.

Then it was on to the NES which my folks got us for Christmas the year it was released in the US (85-86ish). After that it was Genesis (although many of my friends owned a SNES).

Then I sort of stopped playing games late in my late-highschool/early-college years (94-96ish). I got back into gaming midway through the PSOne generation. And I've been back "hardcore" since.

@Gaff: Yup. In this thread some people are mistaking "censorship" for "thinking before you speak". See, there's a difference between free speech and Tourette's syndrome.

Bears repeating.

Aris has some strong opinions but he's not some closed-minded bigot. For example, here's a spirited and hilarious exchange that went on between Aris and Kayo Sato, the FGC's resident transgendered spokeswoman, from 2011's EVO tournament.

I'm not defending his style of rhetoric, but this has less to do with sexual harassment and more to do with censorship.

Shining a light on something objectionable is not censorship.

But asking an entire community to drastically alter the way they express themselves in order to become more palatable to the tastes of outsiders IS censorship.

Oh, bullshit. Asking someone to not be such an asshole is NOT censorship. Nobody is forcing them to do anything.

You're right, no one is being forced to do anything. Instead, Jared is suggesting that the FGC should suppress their established parlance, or censor themselves, in order to make the scene more hospitable for people with a lower tolerance for this kind of crude behavior.

You still don't understand the concept of censorship. Without force, asking someone to not be such a dick is not censorship. I can't illustrate this anymore clearly. A suggestion is not censorship.
