I could totally get behind this game, with its dumb weird action dude protagonist, if it was a better playing game, and also played up the weird. Basically, if platinum made it. Dumb action dude is no Bayonetta tho.
It is cool to see Dan play the best metal gear game. Shame he played it on easy, although it makes sense to just show it off, but as a platinum game it's combat is incredible.
Something i notice to varying degrees in games is that games tend to make all rooms far taller and wider than the real life equivalent would be. In this game it really stands out and seems weird, I know what the proportions of the inside of a house feel like, it aint that.
My core Castlevania touchstone is SotN, which i have played a ton, This game seems way less familar than the NES ones though, visually (never played any before sotn). Like, it is actually way closer to SotN than those, in a lot of ways, but something about the visual design seems like sotn evoked the NES games more than this. Can't really articulate what it is though. Could just be like, core colors and some basic enemy design.
Also, i as someone who never had either console: genisis def had a better sound chip, it's great. I kind of dont give a shit about any genisis games though, but have played and loved a lot of SNES games.
Oh nooooo i can't believe you killed Toriel. I did that at first and actually cried, i thought I was supposed to. Realized that i didn't have to and restarted the game after that. I like this game a lot.
