I'm not sure what you mean about Shadow of Mordor, that was a hell of a fun game. It even won GB's GOTY for 2014, and I believe it was either the #1 or #2 community GOTY after all the votes were tallied, too.
And to this day, I still have absolutely no idea as to how that happened.
Yeah, the Nemesis System is neat, but once that wears off, SoM has literally nothing else going for it.
Wow, im surprised to see someone who agrees with me about SoM. I quite enjoyed it, but the combat and world stuff got tedious like halfway through and wasn't especially great. Nemisis system was amazing though, the rest was competent enough that i enjoyed played it, but I didn't think it was as incredible as many other games last year. If the award was just best new system, it would have been a shoo in, but the rest of the game wasn't as good.
The common recommendation for a first anime is one of the best, and I am going to make that recommendation now. Watch Cowboy Bebop, if you have not. That said, if yuo are looking for an anime that is similar tonally to mgs, then yeah, Jojo is a pretty good one for that.
They seem to me to be a bit of a combination of several, North-western European nations.
The Dialect and Accent seems to be mostly Irish
The clan structure seems to come from the old Scottish clan structure.
The Naval/Raiding culture stems from classic Scandinavian Vikings. (I don't know enough about the individual countries to know, but i'm sure there are big differences between the individual countries.)
The Religious aspects seem to be a combination of all the different Pagan religions of pre christianity europe but including a lot of Scandinavian Paganisms key terms, names, and phrases.
yup this. They aren't just an analog for a single culture.
I suppose I count as a "whale" in terms of volume of games purchased? I have 400 some steam games, half of which I have yet to play, and also a ps4 and wiiu (bought for bloodborne and bayonetta, respectively) as well as a ps3 still hooked up.
I think when the staff talks about differentiating from PC though, they are mostly referring to the fact that, often, the PC offers a better experience than the console versions of games, simply because PC's are more powerful (as well as other advantages, such as modding and mouse/kb for those who prefer it), so for people with both, like myself, it is usually more attractive to buy the PC version of a game. I'd be curious to know how much of the market has a PC that is more "powerful" than consoles though and as such has the option to decide whether to the the PC or console version of a game. I tried to see if I could figure it out from the steam hardware survey, but a cursory glance didn't reveal anything and I didn't care enough to keep digging, maybe I will another time.
