For what it's worth I think the PSP version of Age of Zombies is my favorite version of that game, if only because they seem to have redone the art in subsequent versions to make Barry Steakfries look less like a hungover scumbag.

Okami is probably the one remaining PS2 game that I'd like to see an HD remaster for. I'd probably pay around $15 for something like that, but I don't think it'd be unreasonable for them to charge $20; Okami was a pretty big game.

@Zenaxzd: I can appreciate the need for variety; I don't necessarily want another game that's exactly like XII either. They made a lot of really smart design choices in that game, but I'd rather seem them try something new on that front than try to replicate what they've done before. That said, there are a lot of things that XII did right that I do wish subsequent games would take cues from. In my mind, XII remains the high water-mark for the series with regard to facial animation, localization, and voice acting, which is either impressive or sad when you consider that it came out nearly six years ago. The result was that I connected with the characters and story of XII in a way that I never did with any other FF. I don't want the same games over and over again, but when one of them does something right, I wish they would learn from it.

@Zenaxzd: That's pretty interesting. I'd kind of lost all hope for another FF like XII after Matsuno left Square. His name is the one I'd always heard associated with XII, but looking at Ito's work, it's reassuring to see that he's basically responsible for my favorite parts of VII and VIII. Still, part of what made XII so great was the story and characters, and I don't know if really good gameplay systems are enough to carry a game that's basically a collection of anime stereotypes. It was enough for VIII guess, but now that I've played XII I don't know that I can go back.

We all have our favorites, for now 12 will remain mine and is my mirror of your experience with 7.

Yes! Thank you! For all this time, I've felt so alone. I thought I was the only one in the world.

Fistbump, bro.

me too

You folks are not alone! In fact, FF XII has been empirically proven to be the best in the series! Just look at these science numbers:

FF GameGoodness Number
VII6
VIII8
XI7
XHAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!
XI???
XII1,000,003
XIIIAfro-bo

Seriously, though; XII was the best; it makes me sad to think we'll probably never get another FF game like it. Even if new games in the series just adopted XII's approach to localization and voice acting, it would be a huge step forward for them.

@Masha2932: I like PoP 08 a whole lot, and I'm still disappointed that they scrapped any plans for a sequel in favor of just going back to what they were doing before. I agree that the story aspect of it was disappointing, though. I think for me, the problem had less to do with having to stop and stand around if you wanted to chat with Elika, and more to do with the fact that they let you tackle areas in that game in whatever order you wanted, almost Megaman-style. It meant they had to keep dialog fairly generic so that it would make sense regardless of when the player heard it in the course of the game, and the end result was that they were never really able to build any kind of meaningful relationship between the two main characters, which made the ending feel kind of weird. It was disappointing, especially given how the characters' relationship and dependence upon one another seemed to be a big part of the game's marketing message.

All that said, I would absolutely love to see a proper sequel to that game.

@StarvingGamer: Someone hasn't seen the IT Crowd.

Or is a bad person.

One of those.

Uncharted 3, Batman:AC, Resistance 3, & Limbo. I love buying games this way. Along with Skyrim, which I expect to be getting for Christmas, this ought to be enough to last me until the next big sale event.
