Funny how everyone mentions the Chie change, but wasn't Teddie's VO redone as well? I didn't have any problems with either after a few hours. Chie was grating at first since she yells all the time, but after I "got the band back together" so to speak, everything was fine.
Teddie's new voice actor does a pretty good job of maintaining a similar tone to the original. The exception is when he's out of his bear suit, his voice then is more more "normal" sounding I guess.
After finishing Golden I've come to the conclusion that I like the new voice almost as much as the old voice. At first it was a little jarring, especially since many of Chie's early lines are her speaking loudly or yelling. Once you get going though, she levels out and sounds much more natural. Nothing can ever replace the original Chie, but since using the old VO wasn't an option, I think the replacement is as good as you could hope to get.
The reason why I absolutely hate the ending to this game is a combination of several things.
Your choices in the previous games and this one mean absolutely nothing in terms of where you end up (except the last choice where you just pick your ending). The ending raises more questions than it answers, and the questions are completely stupid. There is really no closure at all. The ending damns what made Mass Effect what it was. And, the final insult on top of this: Bioware has stated on several occasions that, since they weren't constrained by having to lead into another game, they were able to give players a variety of endings that are widely different.
I think it's pretty sad the site has got to the point where users are left wondering what's premium and what isn't.
Also segmenting community, nickel and diming whine whine etc etc
I think the issue here is that most of the premium content has been either site-related or things to do with older games, and has been clearly marked as premium. Which is fine. For this, though, it's for a new release (although they will be playing older games and not Skyrim tonight) and was not marked as premium. I didn't even think it might be a premium thing until I clicked the chat page and saw the dragon. That's where the disappointment sets in for me, at least. If it would have been stated that it would be a subscriber stream from the start, I wouldn't have expected to be able to watch it.
I normally don't have any qualms about the premium content for subscribers, but as you said, it's somewhat disconcerting when we're unsure what something will be. Or worse, expect something to be for everyone and then find out that it's not shortly before the event.
This is all assuming that it is indeed a subscriber stream, since we haven't heard either way for sure yet.
It makes sense, I guess. But I wish they had put that out there in the first place...
Yeah, I was under the impression it would be for everyone since they usually tag the premium stuff as such, or at least say it's going to be beforehand.
