Yeah, that frame rate isn't 30 fps. Seems like a bit of a technical mess.

"For my part, Titanfall 2 improves greatly upon the first game and stands up there alongside some of my favorite games in the Call of Duty franchise."

Thanks Jeff, all I need to know!

Unfortunately this is all I needed to know as well. The original Titanfall was NOT a Call of Duty game. The Beta unfortunately led me to believe that they had veered too far in that direction and this review confirms it.

I think that Titanfall was too far ahead of its time, some people just couldn't wrap their head around the mechanics, so they had to dumb it down. I look forward to Titanfall 3 when they actually advance the game again.

Honestly, I think the first game was closer to CoD than the new one. The movement system (which constitutes like 95% of my interest in the game) has been expanded from the first game. The addition of the slide in particular adds a ton of depth and you can actually strafe jump and bunny hop now (in a AAA game, no less).

It's just a pity that EA have hung the game out to dry with the release date.

For the record, the correct term to use for those guys is 'bogan', not 'chav'. It is kind of interesting to see that Americans can't tell the difference between Australians and Brits (although, to be fair, Melbourne accents sound vaguely British, I guess).

This was a fun read, would be interested to check out similar assessments for more titles, like Tekken and Virtua Fighter (is that still a thing?).

Neither have thriving competitive scenes. Unless you have a group of friends to play with, it isn't really worth getting into them right now.

That might change with Tekken 7's console release. Here's the thing though. Despite the fact that they've simplified a large number of Tekken's core mechanics in the new one, Tekken itself is still quite punishing for newbies. Every Tekken iteration over the past few years has died off relatively quickly because it has struggled to attract long-term commitment from new players. Nobody really enjoys being sledgehammered into the ground by decade-plus veterans over and over again.

I dunno, as a long-time TW and WH fan, I'm not really feeling TW:WH. It's really stripped back from previous iterations, which is great for newcomers but feels pretty shallow for anyone who's been into the series for a while. Online is also a bit of a mess as balance issues ensure that pretty much only one race (or two, if you're lucky) is playable.

I don't know man, I love Warhammer and I love Total War and this game is like pure crack. I can't stop playing it. Been playing Total War games since the first Shogun and to me, this is the best game in the series since Rome and Medieval 2. It might actually be my favourite overall.

The online I can't comment on, I never played Total War for the multiplayer. I hear Warhammers implementation of the multiplayer is severely lacking though.

The multiplayer implementation has been lacking since Shogun 2. That's not such a big deal. As long as I can quick battle, I'm fine with it. The issue is the balance ensures that Empire is pretty much the only playable faction.

Even in the singleplayer, the lack of unit formations, varied siege battles and management options are kind of a let-down.

@zojirushi: the movement in Dying Light is a joy compared to this she looks like she's running through treacle.

Dying Light's traversal is essentially a glorified quick time event. ME's traversal is supposed to be skill-based. Unfortunately, that results in the game looking stilted when you screw up your inputs - but it also makes it all the more satisfying when you pull off a perfect run.

Obviously, you can watch speedruns of ME1 to see how the game looks like when played near-flawlessly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jIr1Z_ilzE

Man, Jeff has to lay off the sweeps. Putting oneself at -11 all the time versus better players is not going to end well.
