@elite49: anyone who has played all 3 games can tell you how terrible the first 2 games are, so play them first and maybe on a pc or something where you can actually see why witcher 3 is so spectacular. 60 fps at 4k is still one of the best looking games especially with reshade, witcher 1 and 2 are boring and have BAD combat. Some of the worst combat and Theres a reason they didn't make 3 like 1 or 2, because they knew they weren't fun.

I've played all three on PC in order as they came out. The first one twice, the second one twice, and the Wild Hunt once, but not all of the DLC yet because I got distracted by other things. I did enjoy the gameplay of all three, and the main story of the second one the most. Yes, 3 has a huge amount of content, but it is not inherently better than the others except for its graphics, which not every person has the money to spend on a computer capable of showcasing. I would contend that boating or horsing for countless hours around the gigantic map in 3 is worse than running around the swamp or city in 1.

Not every RPG fan loves open-worlds more than linear/branching railroads.

I think the intended solution of the swing-arm box and water wheel puzzle 2/5 through the quick look was to put the box on the far right, the swing-arm straight up, and a rope connecting the two, then stand on the rope. There's no other reason I can think of for the little loop on the swing-arm.

So Jason says there are no real quality of life improvements regarding scoutflies and trying to find a new monster, but I think he just totally forgot about tailraider riding. This is a new ability that they introduce right at the beginning of Iceborne where you hop on a tailraider and it takes you around the zone across all the tracks you need and finds the new monster for you. Definitely use that instead of just running around!

Around the 12:50-13:15 minute mark, Jason actually does go looking through his item menu for something to call a "raider" to ride around, but he doesn't find it and wonders whether it's something you need to earn area by area.

In regards to that discussion near the end (35 minutes or so), I've never been interested in playing the GTA games in large part because of their mostly realistic worlds and characters. I don't want to step into those shoes and cause that mayhem. On a similar note, I tended to drive quite carefully and make consistent dialogue choices while playing LA Noire, because it felt right for the character and story.

Saints Row 2-4 and Just Cause 2 on the other hand are goofy and cartoonish enough that I can enjoy them as escapism without feeling guilty about collateral damage.

I don't envy developers and writers trying to nail tone, immersion and gameplay at the same time.

That was the hypest okey-dokey I've ever seen.

So glad they let it run until that point.

Hard to tell what the game will be like, but I mostly enjoyed the first 2 and Larian. Presumably, this will be 5th edition DnD?

@the_nubster: Yes, I'm fine with that label being applied to the genre, I would just prefer "run-based" to avoid confusion. -lite and -like are too similar for many people to keep straight, especially since most people haven't played Rogue or any of the Rogue-likes from the 90's.

The analogy I usually bring up is the term "Doom-likes" versus "shooter". The Uncharted and Far Cry games are shooters, but they obviously aren't Doom-likes.

EDIT: Oh and as an aside, the official description on Steam lists BioShock and System Shock as inspirations.
