My All Time Favorites

These games may not hold the test of time, so most are judged on when they were released or when I (finally) played them. These are in no particular order.

List items

  • Generally, this my answer to "What is your favorite game?" Also, I didn't play this until 2007 and it still blew my mind. Just sublime in almost every way.

  • If I was to choose one Metal Gear as my favorite, it would definitely be MGS3. The camouflage and constantly pulling bullets made it a unique experience I will not forger. Also, the Snake Eater theme is totally awesome. People who think MGS2 is better are crazy.

  • Valve can't do no wrong. Half Life 2 is, as expected, amazing. Freeman's story only got better with each new episode

  • A great playing platformer that is actually funny. The hub world in this game is one of the best ever. Milkman conspiracy.

  • Trying to keep this list to one per franchise, God of War 1 was an extremely potent experience that God of War 2 was very close to achieving. The last bits (minus the frustrating final boss) were excellent.

  • Meg Ryan and laughable dialogue aside, FFX was just fun. The story was surprisingly engaging and the characters were likable. I also really enjoyed upgrading weapons, the sphere grid, and catching monsters. Probably my favorite final fantasy.

  • My all time favorite mod, narrowly beating out Counter-strike 1.6. NS has an incredible amount of depth, whether you decide to be a pawn or the commander. I have high expectations for NS 2.

  • And here is CS. This is meant to represent CS 1.6 specifically. I spend much of my early teen years playing in crazy custom servers, started and participated in a few clans, creating and moderating a server and so on. This is the game that spoiled me for FPS's, which is probably why I didn't get into console shooters until...

  • Probably my most played game on the Gamecube. Hundreds of hours were spent playing the insane multiplayer, working my way through the hardest difficulty of the co-op campaign, and even creating maps. Best memory is beating Neo-Tokyo co-op on the hardest difficulty, oh yeah. Anyone who chooses the monkey in multiplayer is a scumbag.

  • Ah yes, the original Left 4 Dead. Although the sequel added may new features, and is undoubtedly the better game, Left 4 Dead 1 is the game that turned long summer days into zombie apocalypse bonding time. Playing versus on No Mercy was an incredibly fun 2 hour experience.

  • Was a fan of the previous Dark Knight games, but this one was head and shoulder better than the previous Dark Knights, and better than most DPS/TPS games at the time.

  • Just brilliant. The boss battles were engaging and strangely haunting, and though the world was for the most part barren and empty it was fun to explore. The music is also amazing. Did not care for the final colossi though.

  • Saw the first few episodes of the ER and immediately went out and bought it. What I didn't expect is to become attached to the many characters in Inaba, and eventually becomes more interested in the story rather than the combat (which is great as well).

  • My favorite of the UT series. Onslaught and Invasion were just a ton of fun.

  • Its RE4 in space, but with a scarier setting, big bosses, interesting characters, and movement while shooting. Ingredients for a great game.

  • A complete experience. Story, gameplay, atmosphere, fun...it was all here.

  • Slightly edging out Asylum, City was just more fun. Didn't care for the actual 'city' and thought getting around was somewhat clunky, but the improved combat and the host of villans made this something special.

  • A shockingly good single player complimented with one of the best multiplayer games of all time. This game had me hooked every night for months.

  • Better than Dead Space 1 in almost every way. Excited to see what they do with the story, that ending is pretty crazy.

  • Favourite action sports game/EA Big release ever.

  • Not the best Tony Hawk, but the one I spent the most time in. The story was pretty silly, but I always came back for the tricks and the awesome soundtrack.
