A one hour+ Civ video should immediately send up red flags, but this was understandably a different experience to watch live. The bit wasn't a terrible idea, but yeah, the execution went on for too long. When you realized you could still hear Alex, improv instincts should have gone in the other direction and just let him rant freely about the Civ mechanics like a madman while you all subjected yourself to an infinitely worse game. Expectations were subverted, and it isn't easy for everyone to go along with the turn this stream took.

A good children's cartoon is written for both the parents and the kids. The secret is the kids don't get the adult jokes so they think everybody's laughing at the same thing. Just toss some potty humor or slapstick right after a dirty joke and Spongebob's your uncle.
