@unastrike Jason, good choice on Irredeemable. Fantastic book. Not sure what books that bundle came with, but if you haven't check out the spinoff series Incorruptible. Set in the same universe, it follows a supervillain named Max Damage, who after the Plutonian goes evil, decides to do the opposite and become a hero. It doesn't go well.
Surprised at all the hate this list seems to be generating. The only issue I had is that Jeff seemed to bulldoze any dislike towards Mario Maker with a "you're an idiot" sort of tone (probably best they didn't partake of the alcoholic bounty until after). I look forward to these all year, and this year didn't disappoint in the least. Got a few games I need to check out myself now too like Grow Home, Invisible Inc, and Soma.
(Of course, the list is complete garbage because Tales from the Borderlands isn't on it, but nobody's perfect.)
It's obvious now that no one played Tales from the Borderlands outside of Austin for a bit. I can't blame them, this year has been killer for games. Not even saying it should have won, but I was a little disheartened that it couldn't get any consideration for Best Story.
For me, humor counts for a lot, and I don't remember playing a game that made me laugh this much in quite awhile. And for me, that makes the less funny moments more poignant. I know this is sort of vague, but I would rather vaguely shout about how much fun the game is than end up spoiling anything. It's my personal game of the year, and I hope more people check it out in 2016.
