Yet again there's a huge disparity between regular gamers and professional-reviewers. There was a time for Gears of War and the trilogy was good...but people have moved on since then and GoW4 is too easy, too short and with gameplay which offers nothing new from the previous three in the series.

Therefore most people are just bored by it. In the meantime however, we still have the "Pro" reviewers hailing it as being worthy of 4/5 star rating. The characters within the game are quite dull and the plot is worthy of not being approved after a pilot episode.

Since when has the single player campaign of Gears been anything but a supplementary thing? Jeff likes Horde Mode and that's his thing. He doesn't even like the competitive MP.

I won't disagree though, from what I've seen of the SP campaign, it's boring and utterly forgettable. But people derive their own value from games and there will be people enjoying Gears 4's MP for years.

Also, I think it does everyone some good to not judge a score in its vacuum. There is text alongside it for a reason: it adds context and justification to the score. Metacritic can't have been a good thing for video games.

As someone who has a PSVR, I'm glad I don't have the tracking problems that Jeff's had. And Headmasters is awesome not terrible.

Also Video games y'all:

a lot of this looks bad but the worst offender of just EVERYTHING SUCKS is RIGS what a garbage fire that game is ...

between the completely dead silence during the loading screens and the screaming announcer which is basically like HEY HEY LOOK AT THIS oh man that game is a shit show

headmaster also seems terrible ..

I really dig this. If I have the cash come Christmas, I think I'm definitely going to get one. There's a lot of stuff I can see myself (and my friends, family) having a lot of fun with.'

@pinner458: Destiny is a very popular game. I mean you don't have to watch every Quick Look.

@av_gamer: Seems a weird thing to post on here.

Also, Jeff and the rest of the GB team consistently downplay the sales numbers of consoles. I truly love this feature but I don't come to GB for industry trends as much as the personalities. Jeff said that the XB1 is doing okay in Europe. Which is simply untrue.

Consoles and their games still sell and without their existence, PC games would suffer. Which seemingly is never brought up in these discussions. There would simply be way less games. And I'm not sure why anyone in the industry would want that to happen.

Looks kinda cool, I'll go check it out on Steam.... wait a minute....this is PS4 exclusive? Like exclusive exclusive. This is like the definition of an indie game. How is that exclusive to consoles? That's really shitty, totally would have purchased that game. They could've totally topped the Steam Top Sellers by now. What a poor business decision.

Poor business decision when they funded the development themselves? I honestly don't understand people sometimes.

Calling a game "pretentious" just because it doesn't resonate from a Quick Look? Give me a break.

Completely agree in every way. As someone who's played through the entire game, there are definite merits to the game. It's perfectly obvious what they're going for at the end. Very interesting and well done game, even if the gameplay is not very inspiring.

So what if they liked Scorpio? They were also positive about God of War & Horizon (which they were arguably the most positive of all the conferences) and they seem very favorable on Resi7 & Kojima project. Problem is there's a lot of confirmation bias to fit the GB/Jeff hates games meme that many people end up taking wayyy too seriously.

In-engine =/= not in-game or gameplay. Lessons learned from Ubisoft/Bioshock Infinite/EA

Because most of what was shown was pre-rendered bullshots and/or games that aren't going to be out this year (kind of like last year come to think of it). Not to say the conference was awful, there were some interesting teasers for sure, but no real substance that has any immediate impact (PSVR kind of was just there).

I think my main issue with something like this is consistency. They seemed very positive about Scorpio. Something that immediately invalidates something that was announced at that very show earlier and that isn't out for another 18 months.

Also, I think you're being disingenuous about Sony. Every single game shown was in-engine. They learned their lesson from Killzone all those years ago.

They can like what they want. I mentioned consistency though. I'm confused because I feel like I adequately expressed my opinion on that front.

I feel like you're being purposefully obtuse here about this in-engine stuff. You said pre-rendered bullshots. I mentioned in-game which contradicts your point. I'm not sure what three other video game companies have to do with Sony when it comes to revealing their games.

We saw game play for Horizon, Days Gone and God of War just to mention a few. I guess I'm not sure what you're expecting.

I wanna try the RE 7 demo before I head out of state, but "tonight" must mean something different to Sony.

I can't find it anywhere on the store, although I can find pre-order links for the game. Am I missing something?

Yes, from what the crew said, it was only available "tonight" to people at e3. not people sitting at home.

The crew is wrong. You have to download it using your PS4. For some reason Capcom doesn't know it's the year 2016 and won't allow you to do it through the web store.
