Let me tell you about my Monday.

Today has been a good Monday.

First off, I woke up an hour earlier than my alarm was set for. Normally, this would peeve me. Normally, I would also spend that time playing one of the trillion backlogged games I have to play. Instead, though, I put on my domestic hat and put away the laundry I started before work last night.  In doing so, I discovered that the white t-shirts I just bought had shrunken in the dryer to the exact fit that I was hoping for.  Then I folded a second load of my daughter's laundry. After that, I still had time to play a game, but, instead, decided I'd break through the completely impenetrable wall of non-motivation that has prevented me from getting my calisthenics on and did a 16 cycle tabata routine. After that, I showered. Another thing I usually bypass on Monday morning.

By that time, my daughter was waking up, so I went in to get her up for the day. After putting away her laundry and getting her dressed, we came downstairs for breakfast. She had her usual bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios. I skipped my usual overservings of sugary ass Malt-o Meal cereal in fat-ass whole milk and, instead, had a plum.

After breakfast I loaded and ran the dishwasher. While that was going, I got my coerced my daughter, who has been a reluctant potty-trainer, to sit on the toilet before going outside to take out the garbage and get the mail with me. Unlike her usual standoffish self, she sat there for an hour. We read 4 Dr. Suess books. We did the alphabet and practiced counting. She named Beatles songs that I was playing on my iPod (she likes the Beatles a lot). Then, after all that, she finally peed. The first time she has done that for me in lo these many months of potty training and her refusals to progress at all with me (I am home with her during the day while my wife works so I've felt guilty about her slow development even though she was doing a great job for my wife), so I was quite excited.

While were were sitting there waiting for nature to call, I got a call letting me know that my monthly paycheck that comes in the mail every month came in the mail today, so, unexpected payday!

Then, after taking the kiddo outside for mail retrieval and garbage disposing, we came back inside and I was able to earn the final, pesky secret quest in the AV Club quest set that I have been trying to attain for so many months now.

So, yes. It is early. It's not even 2 pm local time for me. I still have a lot of stuff on my plate for the day and night, including my overnight work shift, but, so far, today has been an excellent Monday.

So, hey. I am addicted to Borderlands.

I slept on this game, kinda. I picked it up used after trading in a bunch of stuff at GameStop when they were doing some silly thing where the gave me like way too much credit for games like MK vs. DC Universe and GT5P. I started it and liked it, but it was the first time I had ever played anything closely resembling an RPG and I was a little unfamiliar with certain aspects. I played with my brother who is real familiar with RPGs, but not as much with shooters. We played when we could and I leveled into the high teens before scheduling conflicts kinda petered us both out. Then, recently, my other brother got a PS3. He is not only very familiar and accomplished with RPGs and shooters, but he is completely untethered by things like a wife, girlfriend, child, job or even any particular sleep sleep schedule.  After a lot of late nights, we are leveled up to the low 40s and well into our second playthrough and this game is kinda taking over every minute of free time I have.

Even at work last night, I pulled up the Giant Bomb iPhone app on my iPod Touch and watched the Borderlands Quick Look. Just cause I knew I wouldn't get to play that night.

Also, this game will be my first platinum trophy, and the first game I gather all the (disc-based) trophies for.

It will also be the first game I buy DLC for.

So, yeah. Borderlands.
