Trails in the Sky is a fantastic JRPG, and better than most of the Final Fantasies IMO. I would advise you to play on hard or the combat won't pose much of a challenge at all, and there's kind of a lot of combat. If you're not interested in a lot of random encounters then the game might not be for you. But the LoH series does a better job of balancing a good, coherent story with likable characters and interesting combat and stat building than any JRPG I've ever played.
gotta give silver grapple another shoutout. just a good-ass grappling hook platformer with really solid movement/momentum puzzles.
also i think west of loathing is one of the best rpgs ever and i hope ben continued with it after the ql, and i hope jeff takes a look at it based on his kol love.
trails of cold steel, but it's not surprising that no one on staff is interested in it. not a ton of jrpg love, and that's cool. i don't expect them to like everything.
was also a fan of portal knights. it wasn't fantastic, just a chill little action rpg. a good podcast game.
@artisanbreads: Yep, I only use them because I have literally no other options where I live. The only cab company in my city consistently takes 90-120 minutes (seriously) to show up after you call them. I know uber drivers get paid/treated like shit, so I always make sure to tip like 50-75% of my fare. I always get a ride in about 5 minutes.
Does it not give you the option to tip in the app? We don't have uber eats here, but every time I get an uber ride it lets me add a tip afterwards when I give them a rating.
edit: oh I didn't notice that you were excluding handhelds in the question. That makes it a lot more difficult for me. Every JRPG I love in the last 10 years started life on either the DS, 3DS, PSP or Vita. I guess I'll have to give it to the Final Fantasy X remaster lol
My gaming TV is 34 inches and it sits on my desk about 2-3 feet from my face. I say keep the TV you have and sit closer. Why do you need to be 10 feet away?
