Game of The Year 2014 Users Choice

Unfortunately I don't have the money or time to keep up with new releases these days. I've ended up playing tons of older games this year, many that I would rate higher than this whole list in fact. Dark Souls and Rayman Legends to be specific.

However, out of the new releases I did manage to play this year, I did have fun with all that follow:

List items

  • I feel super weird putting this on the top of my list. Honestly I like many many other card games a lot more than this one. That said, I play this game almost daily so they are obviously doing something right.

  • I don't really get the hate towards this game from many who found it disappointing after Bastion. Yes it is a little short, but the story is still touching and the game play much more interesting than bastion was.

  • This is the only phone game I play regularly, and somehow it just keeps being fun. Someday I'll get past the 768 tile I swear!!!

  • I had issues with the 3DS version, mostly the screen size, but is always a good time for me.

  • Even though I find the new music in this version to be no where near as good as the original, the gameplay is still there. Plus so many new items and stuff my god!

  • Putting this in here for the style. It suffers from some issues, specifically that platforming in first person is a tricky thing to deal with, but manages to be interesting enough that even some of the more frustrating sequences feel worth it. This is really here for the style though, the game is so strikingly beautiful with its very minimalist aesthetic.

  • This game really suffered from how long we had to wait between episodes, but I found the style of game Telltale makes to fit perfectly for this detective type story. It may have been a bit of a rocky series, but I wasn't disappointed (I'm looking at you Walking Dead S2).

  • I am betting my enjoyment for this game spawns from my love of the bullet hell games in general. It may not be as crazy as Ikaruga, but it is damn fun and has great music.

  • I only managed to play this game once, but oh man did it stick with me. Someday I will get people over for some kind of tournament I swear!

  • I am putting this on just because of how unique the experience was. I have not found many chances to play but I keep it on my phone just to show people who silly and fun it can be. Yay dancing!
