There is SO MUCH good music in games these days. Almost enough for the crew to revamp their process or add an additional category. "Best Use of Music" or "Best Sound Design" would help strip things out a bit.
As opposed to the Mario games where the natural split is between 2D and 3D, I think for Zeldas the natural split is between console and portable sysetms.
Console:
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
The Legend of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Portable:
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Again, as with Mario, I think these lists are better and harder to argue against. At least the top half of each of these lists which are perfect.
The natural split of Mario games is 2d vs 3d. I think taking this list and splitting it into these two categories makes things a bit clearer. These divided lists are harder to argue with than the full list.
Wow, Spirit Tracks is strictly better than Phantom Hourglass. Regardless, I should go back and play both of these.
I did recently play Seasons and Ages through the 3DS shop and While both are fun, I think Seasons was better. Better story, better dungeons, better setting, better mechanic. I would love to see what another non-Nintendo team could do with Zelda.
I enjoy the Clank stuff! You should definitely check out the PS2 games as 2 and 3 are the best the series has to offer. The older R&C games had some fun Clank sequences. The ones where he turned into a giant robot on small spheroidal planets come to mind. I also really enjoyed the time puzzles in Crack in Time.
