I don't understand why the narrative around Deathloop on this site is that its a really confusing game to describe? Even from the reveal trailer it has seemed like a pretty straightforward premise, nothing that's been shown or talked about on GB has made it seem any different.
This and quotes about it being a unique concept have been confusing me, too. It seemed like an immersive sim (akin to Dishonored) with a timeloop mechanic (similar to Outer Wilds), and that's what it is. Throw in some Hitman and rougelite elements and you've got yourself a really enjoyable stew. Unique in that it's combining a bunch of fun ideas together, but those ideas are far from original. I'm not complaining--I like it.
It seems like a lot of sites--not just Giant Bomb--are saying they're having trouble getting the concept across, but I think the marketing and the previews (GB's included) were pretty clear.
Tipping a cable person? I'm pretty empathetic, but absolutely not. Jeff G's problems are going to cost a decent amount to just run that line, so tipping should be out of the question there. Otherwise what the cable person typically does is something I could easily do myself, and I'm already getting charged like $50 for an activation fee anyway, so tips shouldn't come into it at all.
Loved the discussion. I can tell you're trying things out, but as someone who is primarily consuming this as audio the brief blips of modem static on the transitions did get a bit grating in my headphones at their frequency at times.
I'll second this. I'm liking the show, but there were a couple of fast transitions early in the first episode--each with its own sound cue--and it was too much. Admittedly I didn't notice it so much in this episode.

@zeeman155: I haven't seen that in particular, but I would guess it's more a function of Charizard being a fan favorite, so it's popular with beginners. It's also pretty weak and ineffective at lower levels. And then Eldegoss is a support so it's either trying to stick close to Charizard, and walking into the meat grinder with it, or the beginners don't realize how squishy it is and try to take on whoever. I doubt it's bots. It's just kids who love Pokemon but have never played a moba.
@larmer: I'm glad you got in! When is your arrival estimate? Mine is Q1 2022, but I would imagine it'll slip.
I went for the mid tier and I was less frantic about refreshing because I was on the fence about how much I want one, but I completed the order about 20 minutes after they became available. Now that I've had more time to think about it, I'm actually way more excited for it. I plan on using it as a JRPG machine to play before bed or in front of the TV.
I gotta get these thoughts out! Pertaining to the Takeshi's Castle-types conversation during the Phantom Abyss segment. MXC is still the king, but Holy Moly is so close to being great. If it wasn't on ABC, I would bet they could go a little farther with their weird course lore and it would be better for it.
Floor is Lava (that's the name; it's not THE Floor is Lava) is on the edge of good, but the host and most of the contestants ruin it. WipeOut is lame, and Ninja Warrior is way too serious--same with Netflix's ripoff, Ultimate Beastmaster. I doubt Cena's show will break the mold much, but I'm still waiting for something as continuously funny as MXC.
... Sorry, just blacked out there. Phantom Abyss is clearly my jam, and I can't wait to play it.
@leviathan_dive: It's a (disgusting) name of a portable toilet rental company. I think Jeff is having some work done on his house and so the contractors have it there to use the restroom.
