@RE_Player92: Really? Are you really trying to tell me that those AREN'T short-term effects of alcohol consumption? Sorry If I'd rather not waste my time looking for the same information from a harder-to-find, possibly more credible source. Sorry If I assumed that people would understand that reference as a simple way to justify my answer with information more objective than that taken from my limited personal experience. Seriously, I'm REALLY fucking sorry.
And yeah, my school doesn't allow Wikipedia either. But A) that doesn't mean it's information isn't accurate 99 times out of 100, and B) this is a forum thread, not a research paper.
I'm pretty much the same as you in my habits, but I don't understand what's so complicated about it. Short-term effects of alcohol, according to Wikipedia, can include: " - Overall improvement in mood and possible euphoria - Increased self-confidence and courage - Increased sociability" And that's not to mention general social motivations (though this only really applies if you're in high school or college). Someone can already be in a good mood, self-confident, and sociable and still want to increase those qualities. It's not like anyone who likes alcohol would be incapable of "hav[ing] fun", as you say, without it. Basically you're assuming that if a person enjoys drinking, he or she must be an alcoholic, and that conclusion just seems uninformed.
