I would really recommend Condemned : Criminal Origins. Although a lot of people find the slow movement tedious I think it really paces the game well. Condemned 2 was an entertaining game but certainly not scary. The original kept a consistent atmosphere and didn't jump the shark in a ridiculous way.

The Resident Evil remake on the Gamecube is probably may favourite classic Resident Evil. It still looks pretty good and the addition of crimson heads (zombies that are killed turn into crimson heads after a fixed period of game time, which are faster and more powerful zombies) really makes backtracking a more fearful experience.

I am also with most people that Fatal Frame (or Project Zero in my country) should be played, or to a lesser experience Kuon. Maybe that's just because I think rural Japanese settings are just terrifying but Fatal Frame is also a pretty well designed horror game, which is uncommon.

For your first two lines, I've explained countless times that this isn't something I take very seriously. It's just how I felt a little underwhelmed about a trailer. Secondly, I've changed the title to let people know this is very subjective. It's personal opinion to generate discussion, and it's not objective to affect anyone else's excitement.

As I've said, I thought it was bad marketing in the way the game was communicated. The tone was off because of the soundtrack and the the fact that it was Sub-Zero and Scorpion fighting in a pre-rendered trailer didn't help. As I've also said, a mere logo would have sufficed then. Instead, this trailer was also used to get people hyped which it failed to do for me. Everything you mentioned isn't really new and that's also fine for some but it just lessens my excitement.

I hope less people continue to misconstrue this as "Hey, this is dumb and stupid and here's why" as opposed to "Hey, I wasn't too excited about this and here's why". Just try and think that this is something written about a two minute trailer. There's absolutely no reason why I would be "whining". There are simply reasons why I wasn't excited and instead, underwhelmed by a two minute trailer. If you were excited about it then there's nothing to argue about. You thought the trailer looked visually cool, had no problem with the music, and so did tons of people.

I agree. This is also a sequel of an established franchise, with fundamental mechanics that will remain the same. I think something like Cyberpunk's teaser works because of the mystery behind it (it is an original ip after all). This is a game where we understand the basics, but I would like to know what else it has to offer. As a lot of people have said, we'll probably find out soon enough.

There are plenty of forum posts about how people are excited after watching the trailer and I am just on the other side of the fence. It's enjoyable to hear discussion about trailers, especially when E3's in a week.

Again, arguing why I thought this was underwhelming is what this is. It's clear that some of the points I make are purely subjective, so the initial title I had was a poor choice on my part. You're right, more trailers will be shown, but this piece is about why this trailer was underwhelming to me. A lot of people don't feel trailers don't need to be informative, and that's fine. It's something that a sequel requires to get me interested, though. I appreciate the fact others disagree though, as this was only to generate discussions about the trailer. Also, I'm afraid I can't see the teasers. What were they? I'll look them up

Yeah I can see the title being misleading, and my writing has always been a little robotic so I can definitely see why people think that I'm angry haha.

I didn't mean to come across as upset or angry in the piece. It was completely unintentionally on my part! Also, I hope people understand that I'm not trying to criticize a new Mortal Kombat game being announced but an announcement trailer. It's pretty trivial so if you're excited about a new Mortal Kombat game and this trailer succeeded in exciting you then that's great! Regardless of my opinion of a trailer the final product shouldn't be worried about until it's actually shown.

To be fair, if you believe that there "might" be weapons then the trailer obviously didn't communicate it very well, which is why I didn't mention it as something fresh. You're absolutely right about the game having simple mechanics, but to just assume that you know what it's going to be like seems strange considering Mortal Kombat 9 was a long awaited return to it's old roots (which felt fresh for 2011), and Armageddon before it felt quite different. As I've said, I think it's clear that the trailer is there to create hype, along with Boon counting down to it.
