I also am a bit disappointed that a game that takes a few chances gets slammed while "more of the same" games like Street Fighter, Trackmania, Halo, Destiny get glowing reviews.

@evilcalvin: Except he didn't give it 4/10, he gave it 2/5.

Which equates to a 4/10 on a 10 point scale. Since Metacritic and GameRankings use a 100 point scale you need to convert that to the 10/100 point scale to compare. 2/5= 4/10 which equates to 40%. Basic math grasshopper!

Well normally a 4/10 or 5/10 WOULD be an average score but videogame ratings are similar to Olympic scoring where a score is terrible if it isn't 9.0 or higher. A 5/10 SHOULD be average but as we all know, when we see a 6/10 or 7/10 we deem that game "bad" and the review content shows that. Any game that is considered "good" is always 8/10 or higher. A 4/10 IS considered "crap". You rarely see games rated below 7 unless they are broken or just "crap" just face it!

O_O

This is... I don't... WHAT IS HAPPENING???????

Sorry. I had to.

I just hope this is much better than the trainwreck Jeff makes it out to be. I follow the guys on the site, forums, tweets and always watch the videos and podcasts and usually respect the views but this just seems so "out there" compared to everything else I have read and seen. We'll see!

Seems odd that Jeff would score it THAT low. 4/10 is reserved for crap games. Click-bait? maybe. Funny though how most of the GB lemmings are saying "thanks now I won't buy it" because Jeff said it was bad.

So when "4/10 is reserved for crap games", what are 1-3 for? And why do you try to convert a X/5 rating into a 10 scale? The matter of fact being that most scoring of video games, on a 1-10 scale, are inflated. You just validated that by claiming "4/10 is crap game".

A "crap game" would be a 1/5 or a 0/5, the 2/5 does not say "crap" it says "if you like the genre very much and the bit of new stuff the game has to offer, you probably gonna get some enjoyment out of this".

Scores like 4/5 or 5/5 are reserved for games which people probably enjoy even if they don't have an unhealthy affection for that specific genre, go to 3/5 and you've got an "good genre game", anything lower than that and you are dabbling in "You might enjoy this, depending on your preferences and what you are looking for", most importantly: All of this is subjective. There is no "objective" way to rate something like a game or a book or a movie or music, because different people enjoy different things to different degrees, no format of review will ever be able to account for that.

Every time people start discussions like this, it feels like they are honestly thinking there could be such a thing as the "perfect game" that everybody, with no exception, will enjoy. Hate to break it to you: But no such thing exists, not in video games nor anywhere else.

Well the game is averaging 8/10 on Game Rankings after 43 reviews and GB is one of only 2-3 sites that gave a review that low. GB score games that are flat out broken better than this. The consensus is that the game is generally good without any big game-breaking bugs. Seems odd that Jeff would score it THAT low. 4/10 is reserved for crap games. Click-bait? maybe.
