I finally played through KOTOR 2 with all the mods about 3 years ago and absolutely loved every second of it. It's a different game than KOTOR 1 that I can see why it might rub people the wrong way. The first is your classic Star Wars RPG fantasy, playing into the themes of the series and focusing on high adventure. KOTOR 2 takes a look at the universe and says "How can we really challenge everything about it?" It plays with conceptions of the light/dark side and the morality tied into them as shades of gray rather than just light = good and dark = bad. And I love how major encounters in the game are not just simply boss fights, but long dialogue sequences where the player has to justify choices in their backstory. Brilliant game, broken on launch for sure, but glad they made it easy for everyone to play it in a completed state.
