Games that did not make the list, either because I didn't play or play enough, but would like to go back and play more:

* Marvel's Midnight Suns Everything I've heard this from friends or people on this site and around the web, makes me interested in this.

* Songs of Conquest I love the Heroes of Might and Magic series, and this is looking to be a great one of those, though I just wanted to wait for more content (it's early access currently) before playing more.

* Tactics Ogre: Reborn I've been in the process of playing through Triangle Strategy in small chunks every few weeks on my Steam Deck, and I've been holding off on starting this until I complete that.

* Metal: Hellsinger I played a few levels of this when it first came out, but I got distracted with other games so I didn't play as much as I would've liked, I'll have to revisit this as I've really enjoyed what I played of it, despite me being a little rhythmically challenged, at least in the shooter format.

* Pentiment I don't typically play a lot of point-and-click or adventure-y games these days, but I am looking forward to finding some time to dig into this one

* Case of the Golden Idol I loved Return of the Obra Dinn, and the little I've heard about this game and its similarities has me intrigued. I've only played a few minutes, but like Pentiment, I am looking forward to finding time to dig into this.

* Return to Monkey Island I've not played any other Monkey Island game, but having played more point-and-click adventure games in recent years than I had in the previous couple decades, has made me more interested.

* Warhammer 40k: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters Watching some of the early bits of this from a Waypoint stream and seeing that this is essentially a Warhammer 40k X-com game, has me interested.

  • With Dark Souls 1 being one of, if not my favorite games of all time, this was an easy sell. While I've only beaten it once so far, I've definitely started it multiple times with different builds just to try out new stuff, which is exactly what I want out of these games.

The game is not without its faults, but I've already bought it on multiple platforms, originally on PC, then later on PS5. That was due to frustration with the PCs performance, getting a lot of hitching, frame drops, and freezing, and I just wanted to be able to play it. Fortunately the more egregious issues had been resolved on PC, though it still gives me the occasional frame dip or hitch, but it's at least playable.

Tech issues aside, its still an incredible game, and like Dark Souls 1, is going to be a game I'll be returning to several times for the years to come.

  • Picked this up in January after seeing Rorie play a little bit on a stream and instantly fell in love with it. I certainly didn't play as much as some folks have, but it's definitely been a game on my mind that I've revisited here and there, throughout the year.

  • While the combat was not the best thing ever, it was good enough for a zelda-like action adventure game. Thing that kept me playing was exploring and trying to fill out the manual, as well as uncovering every secret I could. Knowing that so much of this game is present from the beginning, but hidden in plain sight, I am curious to see speed runs, or just subsequent playthroughs of this game.

  • If you liked God of War (2018), chances are you'll like this one. I enjoyed the combat and story of the previous game, but this one does a little bit more with its combat and story.

  • They somehow managed to make a speedrunning platformer that I was interested in. I'm not the biggest FPS fan, but making movement abilities tied to alternate fire for the weapons really broadened the arsenal, beyond just basic gun functionality, e.g. SMG more or less just a pistol but shoots faster and has larger clip.

  • With the release of the mode Immortal Empires, it brings a culmination of 3 games-worth of content into a singular large campaign map, filled with several different and unique playing factions. There's still some similarities between factions, but there's also a lot of unique mechanics and units amongst each faction to warrant playing each faction.

  • I've dipped into this in small bursts over the past 5-10 years maybe, but never stuck with it long. But with the Steam edition bringing mouse functionality and improved UI and visuals, it's brought enough for me to replace Rimworld or Gnomoria.

  • It's like a mix of Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle, which I'm a fan of. I've yet to finish it at time of writing, but I enjoyed my time with it completing nearly 3/4 of it.

  • It's similar to Vampire Survivors, but a little more involved. You still mostly just move around with a little bit of aiming, but this time the enemies and bosses do things other than walk into you, requiring you to dodge.

  • It's a nice, short, castlevania-esque game that I really enjoyed.
