I keep thinking that this game has a severe marketing problem when it comes to attracting mainstream console audiences. I've been talking to my console gamer friends, and none of them had heard of the game, and these guys are reasonably clued up when it comes to upcoming releases. They can all tell you about the new CoD trailer, or even the new Doom game, but not Overwatch.
I predict that this game will do really well critically, but will suffer from lacklustre console sales. The PC version, as has been said by earlier posts, is where the real bulk of the community will lie. That's where I'll be playing it.
Because JSJ is an indie darling and thus both it and its developers are immune from criticism and scorn from the enthusiast press, no matter how justified. It sucks, but there's a segment of the indie dev community that pretty much has the press by the balls.
This.
And then people wonder why I think so little of indie gaming.
Please tell us more about how indie gaming has ruined your life.
I've found that the queue takes time, usually around 3 minutes with a EU server pop. of around 1.5-2k players. It always gets me and my pals a match though.
Wow I'm surprised the game has remappable controls at all. Considering how much the controls are complained about one would have thought there was no way to change them.
But can you set aiming to face buttons and movement to slider? That has worked well on PSP.
You can, but you'll lose pretty much all aiming fidelity by doing this. Can't help feeling that they dropped the ball big time by not letting you twin stick this game with the circle pad pro.
I thought I'd mention this on this off chance that no one has realised this by now. You CAN configure the circle pad pro to let you shoot using the big ZL button rather than the tiny, hard-to-reach, L button while still using the left circle pad to move. This might not help most people, but with my larger hands I find it very uncomfortable to hold the 3DS and use the circle pad + L trigger. Using the ZL trigger relieves a lot of the hand cramp. To achieve this, go to Control Configuration, select circle pad (left) for movement, then touch screen for aiming. Next, drag the Attack control over to the R trigger, which will mean that L will be bound to Align Camera instead. This will also mean that the ZL trigger on the Circle Pad Pro will now be used to shoot with when it wasn't before. It still won't magically make the game not crap to control, but for people will large hands like myself, it makes a big difference ergonimically.
Imagine this, Giant Bomb accentuates the negative about The Old Republic. At this point it's gone from barely concealed to an out and out grudge against a game. Why even bother with a review at this point?
You're a moron. Congrats. Articles like this one HELP the people playing SWTOR: they draw attention to issues and put pressure on companies to actually get their shit together.
