OK, so this one was a bombcast in the autumn of 2011. That bit where Vinny's describing that RTS with really convoluted-ass time-travel mechanics and Ryan just starts going "stop…stop…stop…shut the fuck up" louder and louder while Vinny's ignoring him and shouting all this technical nonsense over Ryan's voice. That was hilarious, but I can't find it on youtube anymore.
Ryan was an exceptional host, he knew exactly how much, and when, to subtly poke someone to get the fuck on with it, when to really explore a joke and so on. Vinny probably understood that too, but chose to push Ryan's sense of podcast-rhythm, which made it so funny.
Maybe it's just a subjective thing, but I swear summer of 2011 through Early 2012 was the best fuckin time for the Bombcast.
I'm scared that he didn't even look at this thread after he posted it. I hope the admins can get the guy's email or something and get through to him. If you are reading, please don't do it. Listen to the people here.
It was painful having to choose, but I chose CoD4. Skyrim is so intensely fantastic in some ways, mostly because of the very convincing, gigantic, atmospheric world, but %-wise, more of the game is a drag to play than CoD4. I still maybe personally prefer Skyrim, but CoD4 changed so much it deserves the win, somehow.
GTA Online has a good community if you like shooting fish in a barrel. I'm mediocre at most online competitive games but it seems like I'm one of the few people who actually know how too shoot and drive at the same time on there. Fantastic for griefing, that game.
I'm reposting this from neogaf because it pretty much sums up all my thoughts on the matter:
You know what journalists? Have a fucking BALL.
1. Get your own copy instead of relying on publishers to give it to you. That way you won't be under their thumb over what you say.
That's retarded. Do you know how little a review copy is worth? Nobody is under anyone's thumb for a review copy. I've written for sites that without trouble got review copies of pretty much every release we wanted, and I assure you publishers don't try to pull any shit with you for that.
Those of you suggesting Sony needs there to be a rep hanging over the reviewers' shoulders are fucking nuts. I doubt forcing reviewers to have a rep present while playing is even legally possible, and even if this only goes for pre-release reviewing, the idea is ridiculous:
Do you really think Sony are loosing a significant amount of aggregate review points because the reviewers don't have basic understanding of how to play their games, to the point where they'd think it worthwhile to send a rep to monitor the reviewing process? Do you think Sony reckons they'd get better scores with someone nagging the critics about the details of how to play?
