Man I think this might be the earliest I've seen the Bombcast go up yet! Gonna be hard saving this one up for tomorrows run but probably totally worth it!

Back from the dead!

This QL made me want to check out the first Banner Saga. Time to put it on the ol' Steam wishlist!

@dasakamov: I don't really have any problems with the Crow, it was an alright movie. Just saying as a kid in those days that read Spawn and had friends that liked to read Spawn, none of us were diehard Crow fans, wearing black trenches and dark makeup or anything.

Spawn was not the "Crow crowd" at all.

It actually had a semi mature storyline for a comic book at the time and some wonderful art by Greg Capullo. There were plenty of comics trying to be edgy and cool in the 90's but Spawn was really it's own thing. The guy lived in an alleyway surrounded by homeless bums, constantly depressed and unhappy with his own existence - occasionally venturing out to stop something bad from happening.

Sadly apart from the short lived HBO cartoon every other adaptation from the movie to the games were all a travesty and not at all representative of the base material.

@humanity: i agree. What makes it especially tough to swallow is that i watched Eisenhorn's quicklook right before this and that game is hardly any better. But since they love Warhammer it's close to the heart, while this quicklook gets treated as Hitman's malnourished cousin.

I think both games are bad, but are doing a good job presentation-wise.

I dunno. With Eisenhorn I was left thinking that they were so close to having something really cool that I'd wanna see if only they had more to work with.

I've a much harder time looking at this and seeing where it could go beyond poor mans Hitman.

Well Eisenhorn is still in development while this is a full retail product available for purchase. That said, I guess what I'm finding hard to put into words is how most of the time they go into these games with the benefit of the doubt and the jokes and tone simply shift organically throughout the Quick Look. Vinny especially is the first to try and find some redeeming qualities about the worst of games. This QL kind of rubbed me the wrong way a little because it was like the moment it started they were off to the races, with Austin turning it up to 11.

I mean don't get me wrong, it's still funny and all that, it's just they're usually a little better going about this sort of stuff where it doesn't resemble an Angry Joe video.

I hope its true. Cause i kind of want a new one so that certain games can run at a stable frame rate :P

Hey good luck with that. That is what we all thought going from PS3/360 to current consoles. Yet all developers targetted better graphics while for the most part literally struggled to maintain a steady 30 FPS. Bloodborne was a PS4 exclusive and even with one SKU to worry about they couldn't get that thing technically ship-shape. The people who took the time to make quality games would have continued to make quality games on current hardware. The developers like Bethesda or From Software that don't care or are either technically incapable of coding well running games within the limitations of the platform are not going to suddenly get any better because the new SKU has 30% more horsepower or whatever the actual bump is.

The one big reason to own a console slowly fading away. It's not like most big console games that were disappointing this generation would have been significantly more fun to play if they looked slightly better. Rocket League isn't a huge hit because it's a visual powerhouse. The problems with Destiny didn't stem from graphical limitations or poor framerate. Developers have all the tools at their disposal to make great console games, they just needed to make BETTER games not bigger and shinier ones.

In a way this is setting everything back. Now all these devs have to get used to programming for new hardware and we're going to get another run of Knack's - shallow games meant to impress with visual fidelity rather than solid gameplay. Worst of all this irrevocably damages the decades old console safety net of "buy one box for an entire generation." This is a half measure in the impossible race of catching up to PC's while ultimately hurting the consumer on basically every level and throwing away the one trump card that consoles could always fall back on. Good business for Sony though, hey this is for the players right.

I love a Quick Look of a bad game as much as the next guy but theres something off about the whole thing when the first few seconds are like "ok let's start shitting on this game as much as we can!" I love you guys, Vinny is a treasure obviously, but ehh maybe don't lay it on so thick?

Sorry if this came off "wrong" in any way it's just my opinion.
