I'm 5 minutes into this quick look, but man.. they didn't just repurpose all of the old levels for this entire DLC did they?

EDIT: That "sword" looks awesome. Good job on the effects!

Like drew it didn't take me long to realize that kikongo was what they all had in common. The part that sucked the most was quarantining all of the dudes, i had the same reaction that drew did because I had close to 1000 people I had to go through

Edit: a snipe is an actual animal, it's a species of bird and is the origin of the word sniper

I thought about doing all that stuff and decided to just beeline the next couple of story missions until it resolved itself. I mean I didn't know it would, but I took a gamble and thought at the worst I can just get more guys. The idea of sifting through my over a thousand soldiers sounded like a huge waste of time.

@dave_tacitus: Likewise. I was always interested in the game but never enough to the point where I actually wanted to buy it. For some reason it always gave off this trite vibe to me that kept me from fully committing to a purchase. Thanks to the Beast crew it is now definitely on my GOTY list. Good for DONTNOD, those guys managed to capture something special.

Undertale will be discussed a lot during GOTY but this game certainly won't and that's a shame. Not to downplay Yndertake in any way, just saying they're both emotional games that deserve to be discussed.

I couldn't wait and started watching a "no commentary" play through of ep.4 and man, this game is pretty legit despite the awkward dialog at times.

I too love Bladerunner.

@doctorclap: Yah I wanted to do this but episode 3 was the cut off point for me. Playing through all three episodes just to get to 4 and 5 seems a bit much. I might buy the game regardless just to support the devs. I really liked Remember Me as well.

@graf1k: Just wanted to give you props on a really good write up of the whole situation and that it really mirrors my own feelings on the matter that I didn't have the energy to fully get into myself. I can understand how the (Beastcast) guys, being on the other side of the fence, might interpret this a lot differently, but from my perspective of the reader you summed it up perfectly.

Man I kept thinking this game is alright throughout this episode but then the ending.. man.. that stuff really did give me goosebumps. Big grin on my face, wow.

@alex: I guess I'm starting to sort of see what you're talking about and the place where you're coming from. Thanks for taking the time to explain it, and as always, great Beastcast. When the stars align and my runs fall onto fridays or even saturdays it makes those 7-8 miles go by like a breeze. Also you can tell Bakalar he's always a delight to have on!

@alex: I hold you in very high regard Alex. You've worked in this industry for a very long time and know way more about it than I probably ever will. I think you're a really intelligent guy and I really respect and agree with most of your opinions. So maybe there is some disconnect between simply being a reader rather than actually working in the industry, but I just can't help but fully understand where the publishers are coming from - and I don't even think very highly of Bethesda as a company to begin with. I don't know, it just seems logical to me that they would sever that relationship, but maybe it's something you have to experience to fully grasp.

Also thanks for clearing up the embargo question. I wasn't aware that it's an actual agreement both parties make. I always assumed it was a convention that websites simply honored, rather than being actually bound to.

@alex: But what good does it do the community to leak gameplay features ahead of time? Screenshots or even video taken from unfinished alpha builds of the game. If people were worried about Syndicate after the technical problems with Unity, a very simple way they could have found out whether Syndicate is any good would be to simply read the reviews.

What is even the point of sending out an e-mail saying "we're not going to send you a review copy of Fallout 4 because you leaked out parts of the plot before we even ran a single trailer for the game." Like I said in the earlier post, what is the difference between posting leaks and breaking embargos? If you're not going to respect one why respect the other? I agree with you guys about leaks that concern real issues like working conditions at Konami, but gameplay features?

Imagine there was a team set aside at Bethesda to create a great reveal trailer for Fallout 4. Those guys worked for 2 months putting together a great looking trailer that showed Boston, crafting, or what have you. Then months before they're able to run it here you have a news outlet posting HERE IS THE FIRST 2 HOURS OF THE SCRIPT. Thats no longer upholding the virtues of free journalism and keep the publics best interest in mind, thats being that guy running out of Empire Strikes Back and yelling "Darth Vader is Lukes father!" as you pass everyone in line waiting to get a ticket. It's a case of if you're not going to respect our dev cycle how do you expect us to respect you in the same way by continuing to send you advanced copies of our games etc.
