Now when Grandma goes Christmas shopping, she'll see that new Wii thing everybody is talking about for only $99 and think she's getting little Timmy an awesome gift she can actually afford.
I think there have been too many not so scary, kind of funny type horror games played on Spookin'. Half-Life 2 has a number of actually creepy mods for it. I'd recommend trying a mod called Grey that actually has some good scares to it I think (and also some weird voice acting). Here is a link to it: http://www.moddb.com/mods/grey
@MethodMan008: Yeah, it's free to play online. I'm using DSFix and I've summoned some people. The general consensus is that using DSFix in general is fine for online play, but the fps unlocker might be considered a cheat (it modifies in-memory game code to achieve the effect). But nobody has ever been banned for it and I doubt anyone ever will.
@SirOptimusPrime: Yeah, I really enjoyed Pontypool. Such an odd movie. So little action, just a few characters, and it all takes place in the same building throughout the movie, and yet, it works really well.
@hussatron: That's fine if people have an axe to grind with Polygon because of a trailer. It could have been executed better, and we've been working hard to make the full series less self-serious. Also since that trailer we've produced:
And this: http://www.polygon.com/2012/11/1/3560318/homefront-kaos-studios-thq
And a few dozen more like them, so I'm hopeful the detractors will be able to look past their hangups soon so they don't miss the excellent work people on my team are doing.
I don't want to start the same old battle about the documentary. That's a battle that's been fought and that I personally think Polygon won. I think it's good that you guys know that announcing Polygon advertisements/sponsorships might require some walking on thin ice for some time. That being said, I do think this newest one is a bit strange.
Also, I read that story on Triforce yesterday when you tweeted about it. Really good story. I had heard of him before this, but he's really an interesting guy.
@justinmcelroy: Good point about non-endemic advertisers. Still, mixing a PR dude into a community doesn't feel right. A twitter account is similar but would be a few steps removed from the actually community. Also, a shit load of different topics come up on off-topic boards, so don't completely discount the possibility of something anti-Geico coming up on the forums (especially now with this news).
Also, I'd just like to say that there are a number of people out there who seem to have an agenda against Polygon's success. I'm indifferent to the site at the time being but there are definitely those who want Polygon to fail, if for no other reason than you guys released a corny documentary trailer sponsored by Microsoft.
So have their been any anti-Geico forum topics yet? It probably wouldn't go over well considering the comments on that page but I'm curious to see if outright censorship would occur. I'm guessing not since Geico and this PR dude would probably know better but it would be interesting.
