Post-Surgery

So i went into surgery yesterday thinking they were going to cut open my armpit to remove 1-2 lymph nodes and instead they decided to cut right at my neck to remove one, luckily i was completely under and signs are looking good, he now believes it isn't lymphoma cancer but my neck hurts like a mother trucker, haven't slept since before the surgery, can't lay on my sides on my bed it hurts too bad even with the painkillers, same with my back. I had to prop myself up some on my sofa last night to try to get some sleep and maybe got around 2-4 uninterrupted sleep.

I am so exhausted, tomorrow i should be able to remove the bandage so i can clean it and hopefully it will feel better, this is for those 0 people out there that care.

Ouch! I've only had major surgery to remove all four impacted wisdom teeth (which is way less intrusive compared to yours) so I can't really relate. It wasn't fun, but all I did was sleep and cry (I couldn't take any pain medication because they make me sick) for a week until it healed.

I hope you recover quickly! High-five for non cancerous lymph nodes.

That sucks man but it could be worse! My sister was in the hospital for two months after being hit by a car, and they never found the guy who did it.

Thats great that he doesn't think it is lymphoma though. Giantbomb is full of decent people who give a crap when someone else is in trouble. Hope you get better soon!

That sounds awful. Only surgery I had was on my "special" area for a hydrocele. I know how much of a hassle it is to clean it and not mess around with it. Can't imagine how awful it is to lose sleep though. Get well soon

Thank goodness for that! Keep your chin up buddy, it's your stalker ha ha, and be happy that those Lymphoma nodes aren't cancerous. Make sure your doc is thorough though, I'd hate for it to be somewhere else in your body.
I'd go out and get wasted with my friends as soon as my body would let me, were I in your situation.

Anyway, like I said last time we talked, Fallout: New Vegas is out, what perfect timing for you to be stuck at home. Try and enjoy yourself brother.

wow i am actually overwhelmed at the positive responses! the doctor called again today and he isn't going to rule out cancer till he does a few more test but told me he doesn't think it is, he is concerned because he felt a node the size of an egg but when he went in he couldn't find it and is worried about that but he said hes pretty sure it isn't and i pray it isn't.

Again i am surprised at how positive the community is here, i was expecting some trolls but instead i get wonderful responses from some great users! this is why i chose to support GB because it's a classy site with a classy community, now it's time to whack out on painkillers because my neck is killing me and i haven't had but maybe 4 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours, only problem is i have to sleep elevated, like sitting.. and that isn't easy even if you are dead tired.

Yeah i had my wisdom teeth cut out about 6-7 years ago, it wasn't as bad for me because i was able to take pain meds, they don't make sick, i can eat these little things like skittles but you also have to be careful about taking narcotic pain meds, they are highly addictive, i know because my older sister is addicted.

I have been blessed not to get addicted to them especially from all the stuff that has been going on with me over the last couple of years, i have been on painkillers for some time but from time to time ill have them put me on non-narcotics like ultram, doesn't help as much but it keeps me from getting addicted, when they made you sick did you not eat before taking them? that sucks that you couldn't i know how painful your mouth can get, teeth/gum pain is the 2nd worse pain i have ever had next to a ear ache, for some reason having ear pain is like having someone stab you in the ear with a rusty screw driver over and over.

Thanks! and thanks to everyone's kind words?

@JJ, me too! if they can't figure out whats wrong soon they are going to have to cut me back open on my lower back and remove the 2 nodes that are pressing against my nerves because it's causing horrible back pain and they don't want to continue to give me narcotics and personally i don't want them to, that's the last thing i need is to get hooked on pills.

Good luck with it all. Glad to hear that the cancer isn't a concern anymore. Get well soon, and hope you're able to rest and sleep better. Everything is easier when you're rested.

I didn't pray either till the doctor told me he was 99% sure it was cancer and now after all this testing hes 99% sure it's not, that's enough for me to start praying.

@Styl3s: Dude ear pain is the worst. I used to get ear infections a lot as a little kid and it's just the most annoying throbbing pain ever.
I definitely think part of getting sick from the pain killers was from not being able to eat because my mouth hurt  so much, but they were probably also just too strong for me. My stomach already hates pretty much all food so any medication or even vitamins I take have to be made specifically for sensitive stomachs. It's annooyyying.

Addiction runs in my family as well, good on you for staying responsible about it! More pain sucks, but it's better than being dependent on pain killers.

Yeah i still have a good amount of pain killers + a refill if i need it, as of now i am taking those every 4-6 hours because of the pain but it's easing up and once i run out of these and if i do need the refill i am going to have them call me in non-narcotics after to wing me off of these quick if need be, because if i do have to go through with the back surgery i won't have a choice but to take narcotics and i can't be on narcotics from now till i heal from a back surgery i just refuse.

I remember when I had my arm broken, I couldn't sleep normally and took the pain killers just because they put me to sleep. It's not the same as having your neck cut open, but still, you have my sympathies.

Hopefully it's not cancer, because that would suck so many dicks. Good luck, duder.

ouch man, i hate surgeries because of recovering. there is nothing to do and your all like ooo i'm in pain and there is nothing to do.

my last surgery was my wisdom teeth. kind of boring week when recovering.

is it weird that i remember a surgery that i got when i was like 3? i remember the doctor putting the mask thing on my face and me turning to see my heart beat it was a bright light and i don't remember anything after that.
