They talked about the remake on a Bombcast once. I must have been going back and listening to old ones or something and Jeff brought it up. I think I paused the show and ordered tge PS4 remake on the spot. Since it had been a few years I was worried it was hard to come by but it wasn’t very expensive.
I also played this back in 1990 and never found anyone else that has played it. I was 10 at the time and my dad took me to a mom and pop rental place that just started renting Genesis games. The had Golden Axe, Target Earth, and maybe 2 other games. I first got Golden Axe and when we got in the car I was saying how I loved this game (I had played it in the Arcade and maybe at the friend’s house). And he said I needed to go back in an get a game I hadn’t played. So I got Target Earth because the box looked cool. That was a Friday night and I spent all Saturday morning playing the game. I never forgot that experience.
Yes the Trash Pandas are real. It actually won a vote. The person that submitted that name gets free season tickets for some number of years. It’s dumb but looks cool on a shirt. It is a rocket since its Rocket City ( Huntsville,AL). Yes Alabama which also helps explain the name.
I am not a fan of survival games but this one has grabbed me. There are things to drive the loop and do much to explore. The hunger and crafting aren’t annoying and encourage exploration. I already have 4 badly built house because I keep getting into a new place and don’t want to run back too far when it gets dark. I beat the first boss around day 30 I think and was able to explore the Dark Forrest early on once I got good enough gear. Marking things on your map is really useful. I can’t quite place it but there is just something about this game and satisfying loops.
I have played a few hours and it’s been really fun. Gotten a lot of free currency and riled a few new characters. I did spend the $5 for the daily extra gems. Seemed fair for how much I enjoyed it.
