I completely agree with your thoughts on Ys VIII, the jump button makes the game a million times better than the previous two Ys games. I have no idea why jumping was removed from Seven and Celceta because it makes everything better. Levels have more verticality, combat has more options, and basic movement is more enjoyable when you can jump. The ability to trade common materials for rare materials was also really nice.
Also completely agree on Echoes, much better than Fates in many ways.

I wanted to gush more about Ys but I was on my phone and that would kill me if the connection to the internet went out and lose everything haha.
@mosespippy: Yeah I agree with the characters and charm being A LOT better in TiTS.
After I finished Trails of Cold Steel 2, I can understand why Erebonia is treated as the evil empire. It really does show in the second game. I guess it's the reason why I like the game as much as I do and it also helps that I know what happens in the Trails of Zero and Blue games.
You can pretty much tell in invested in the Trails universe haha. As for the grid based system, I'm actually glad it's gone since I found it to be a bit old at this point.
