That was honestly probably one of the worst trailers for something so high-profile I've ever seen. It breaks down into several easy-to-identify failures.

The first failure being the voice actors. I don't know who thought it would be a good idea, but apparently Rockstar has hired Brian Posein to fake every single biker voice in that trailer. Those lines were some seriously stupid pieces of cheesy crap. They could have at least gotten some actual bikers to voice the shit or something. I wanted to cringe. And I did cringe. Lines like "Drink what you have to drink, kill who you have to kill" might be OK for some stupid budget Summer action flick, but this is one of the more well-respected development talents in the industry here. They took the tone for GTA4 to much more serious levels, and now I can't tell whether they think this is actually a good, thought-out idea or a return to the over-the-top, batshit-stupid roots of the series. That could be great, if only they hadn't structured Liberty City to take itself so seriously already.

The second offense was all of the stupid thrashing metal crap in the background. Liberty City HardCore was the worst radio station in GTA4, with some of the worst songs and bands selected for the genre that could possibly have been chosen, and I hated getting on a motorcycle and hearing that bullshit every time I wanted to ride. The tone set by Niko's trailer music was always something different; stylized, but unique and intriguing- just like Niko. If this crap metal is going to be the tone that is set for the expansion, and I'm going to have to hear that crap while being surrounded by fat drunks all the time, no thank you. That's the vibe I'm getting from this.

The third being the fact that they chose the Lost gang. For those of you who don't remember, they're those people who you kicked the living shit out of/absolutely *slaughtered* in the main story with Niko. Even the Bombcast reflected on this before heaping praise on the trailer (for reasons I do not understand at all.) I don't want to be riding around with a bunch of fat men in tight leather who I've seen first-hand are some of the biggest douchebags and easy targets in the entire game. That was an incredibly stupid idea. Biker gangs can be incredibly bad-ass, this looks like that crappy show that's always on at midnight these days (what was that called?), but even worse.

In conclusion, the Lost and Damned trailer shown at the Spike VGA's was utter tripe. I have no idea what Rockstar thought they were doing with this, am not interested in any further coverage. Should I seek further coverage, it would be either to hopefully find something that will prove to be the salvation and purchase incentive for this product, or simply to mock its stupidity further. Seriously. $20 for an expansion like that Rockstar? They should have shown something that would blow our socks off. Now I'm just shaking my head and chuckling to myself.
