At least two people have commented on Abby mistaking Dan for an enemy player and killing him as some extremely negative thing - as if nobody else on this very site did the exact same thing while playing PUBG and people lots their minds at how hilarious it was. That has never happened more than once ever before, no sir.

Dan also mistook an enemy for Abby and didn't attack that player when they landed together in the building attached to the maze. Someone please remove both their licences to play video games on the internet as this just won't do.

Proposed requirement for 2018: in order for a game to become a contender for the final list, at least 2 members of staff must have played it to completion, and be able to render informed opinions.

...that should cut a good chunk of the "one person is passionate about it" nonsense.

Out of interest what game on that list did only one person play to completion? From what I can tell, every game was played to completion by 2 people and partially by other people.

@auspexao: That's a very fair explanation of why it went that way. There's an absolute tonne of stuff they left out of explaining about the style of P5. Stuff like the All Out Attacks, Hold Ups, musical call backs, the treatment of the Velvet Room, the dungeons and how their owners see themselves and the denizens of it (the bank manager, the ATMs etc). How you transition from the world to combat, to the reward screen and back into the world. The popularity tracker and how it was used.

Abby did a better job of debating for Cuphead than Alex and Ben did combined for Persona 5.

@joedangerous: Probably because it's nothing new. The Persona 5 world is just another take on the Persona 3 and 4 worlds. It's our world with a shadow realm attached to it. In 3 and 4 they at least made up a city and town. In this, they're literally in a real world location.

@humanity: It's kind of funny that the more Jackbox leans into this idea of "streaming", the worse and worse the games are getting for it.

To the dude (Evan?) who wrote in looking for low spec games to play with his SO whose currently half way around the world - Terraria is a great game to play co-op together. I've played hundreds of hours of it with my girlfriend when we lived apart and even still when we lived together.

There's no reason for them to be going in blind to these raids. Like WoW's gotten to the point that they tell you the raid mechanics in game and it comes down to execution. It's weird watching them give some kind of weird priority to 'figuring it out themselves'. I mean even in the beginning of Molten Core we didn't spend multiple 7+ hour days in there.

I don't know, maybe I'm wrong to compare Destiny 2 raids to MMO raids.

Well, Destiny doesn't do that, and a lot of people that first week beat it specifically avoiding hints from the people who'd finished it before them. I don't think these streams would be very entertaining at all if it was entirely the execution phase of these encounters.

WoW only recently started adding that and even then it's an overview of the fight and people still have to take time to figure it out and work on the right strategy.

Most WoW guilds that aren't aiming for realm/world firsts expect their members to know the strategies before they go into the fight. And they raid for a few hours (2-3) a night for maybe three nights out of the week. Those that are bleeding edge train on the PTR and take time off work on launch because that's what they like to do.

These guys spent about 2-3 hours on the last boss and figured out the mechanics. Then they got tired and spent 6 more hours failing to execute due to tiredness.

I'd also buy one with the Luchadeer balloon on it without the 500 episodes thing.

@jesus_phish: personally I found Tiny Tina to be over the top in a way that while fit the world, was annoying. The writing just didn't work for me at all because it was too in the nose, or just trying too hard. It's the same story with Cayde in Destiny 2. His lines don't feel organic at all to me - you can almost feel the writers strain in trying so hard to make this guy be the cool and oddballish but it just ends up feeling contrived and at odds with the game.

I haven't picked up Destiny 2, end of the month for me, but from the trailer for it that has the duality between the SERIOUS MAN and the FUNNY MAN it was obvious they told Nathan Fillion to go full Nathan Fillion - ie be that guy you are who owes his career to being imitations of classic Harrison Ford characters.

I sort of knew he'd always end up like that in Destiny because that is literally all Nathan Fillion does.

Tina to me was another OTT character in a world of OTT characters but who actually had a fairly shitty past and was dealing with it by making the most out of it that she could. However, while I can see how people might think her lines are annoying or her voice is grating (I don't think either) - the hyperbole around her being "omg the worst thing ever in video games all people who worked on her should be banned from video games" is incredibly overblown. She's a good character. Just because she might be "annoying" doesn't make her a bad character.

@sammo21: Hearing them say that the story in Destiny 1 is better than the story in Destiny 2 is mental. There's no story in Destiny 1. At all. There's a set up and that's it. The set up is there's a big giant ball in the sky to protect us. The pay off is that a character called The Stranger gives us a gun at the end and then goes away. The stuff in between is a bunch of set pieces that do nothing to advance a story.

There's no way to be worse than zero without being an absolute pile of shit - which nobody is saying about this games story.

@matiaz_tapia: I don't get what people hate about Tiny Tina. She's one of the better characters in that game and she fits in with the rest of the characters who are over the top in their personalities. The DLC based around her is probably the best DLC for the game.

I played all of BL and BL2 with the same group of friends and easily put in hundreds of hours to both games. Tiny Tina was one of our favourite characters.
