I've put about a dozen or so hours into the game so far and I'm enjoying it immensely. The differences in the characters, the loot system and melee combat all make it a real blast to play. I love playing as the Bright Wizard. Setting hordes of rats on fire is just tons of fun.
@rasrimra: It's a weird narrative they've built around that game that isn't really true. It feels slightly different but it's no different than any game that put animation priority in there. The new movement feels better than MGSV's, which shows its limitations in Online and in those action-packed missions. I bring up MGSV because Dan compared the two's movement.
Their opinions of The Witcher 3 kind of mirror mine of Metal Gear Solid V's. I played and beat it and enjoyed it for the most part but there's no real pull to do anything after you've already done it. Africa was tough to get through and some missions really moved faster than MGSV's weird and somewhat janky movement system could handle. Most of my play time is me leaving the game running so the game's ass-backwards resource and development systems could finish the stuff I wanted to use. With Witcher 3 there was at least a story pulling you towards doing the gameplay. The witcher monster murder-mysteries, story missions and all that jazz. But I can understand that if you're not invested in the characters or story it can be hard to get in to.
Damn fine writing and characters. Enjoyed the gamplay too. Witcher 3 is my game of the year for sure.
